I didn't mean to imply you could just enter the Doges- but you'll see your weather on arrival & could certainly seek a reservation, and there are other smaller museums - but St Peters is usually available, though sometimes crowded with rowdy schoolchildren. I never usually find the weather websites reliable. I thinks that's why we have so many postings here asking for people's experience with seasons.
