Hi
I have friends who go to Venice annually. They always stayed at the Europa Regina, but recently changed to the Ca Pisani. Hip decor, great service, good restaurant on the premises (La Revista), excellent location behind the Accademia, and they have junior suites available for I think less than a standard room at the E-R. I don't want to confuse you further, but another good choice is the Colombina, overlooking a canal, less than 5 minutes from the Piazza. Brand new in 1999, charming decor, good sized rooms, very nice all around atmosphere. |
the superior double at the antico doge had the separate sitting area. it was actually 155 because I paid in cash.

You can't go wrong with the antico doge. we stayed in the suite failer with a huge canopy bed and balcony overlooking the canal. All the rooms seem nice and there is a great seafood restaurant nearby (need to ask them for the name). Lots of tapestry, nice furniture and good air conditioning. good luck, V.

I've stayed at Pensione La Calcina twice. It is a lovely hotel. Absolutely charming, and very romantic!
More like $185-235 per night, for the nicer rooms, depending on room type and season. Try for a corner room overlooking the Guidecca canal. The rooms have handsome furnishings & window coverings, modern bathrooms. Breakfast is included and served either on the deck over the canal, or small dining room off the lobby (or I believe also by room service). There is a little private rooftop deck that you can reserve (free of charge) with lounge chairs, table, and an amazing view. A couple years back someone complained about some type of construction project near the hotel, does anyone know if this is still an issue? (I'd hate to make this recommendation if there's something current that I an not aware of). www.lacalcina.com |
