Thanks. |
Valerie I am sure the Basilica is included in the admission charge. I know our tour guide mentions that when we exit the museum we are in St Peters square where we then enter the Basilica. If there were an extra charge for that he would have said as he has listed everything that we will have to pay admission to.

There is no entrance fee to St. Peter's Basilica, whether you go there after a tour or not.
|
Thank you. I found out if you want to climb to the dome of St. Peter's it costs 6 euros.
FYI: I emailed my request for tickets for the Vatican Museum tour on a Sunday afternoon and by the time I arrived at work on Monday, I already had a confirmation for the day and time I requested. I supplied my name, home address, email, phone and fax as well as my contact information in Rome... Thanks! |
Great info. Bkmkg for July trip.

When you email a request for reservations, can you request a specific time? Or do you just say "afternoon" or "morning" on a specific day? We have scavi tour reservations at 10 am, so would like to request the museum tour in the afternoon. Thank you all for this help.

I just sent an email telling them that there were 4 of us who wanted a group tour on May 16 and asked for available times. They emailed a reservation back the next day with a time of 12:00 and said come 30 minutes early because tickets can be purchased on that day only. It costs 29.50 euros pp. I would think you could tell them the time of your other tour and they would schedule you accordingly, or maybe just ask for a certain time and give them the reason. It seemed very easy to arrange--hopefully it works!

Thank you so much! We sent our request for the date and time we want, so we'll hope for the best. I appreciate your help!

Great news re. jumping to the front of the line. Otherwise we were priced out of going (private tour) and my husband can't walk or stand for more than a few minutes at a time. Does anyone know if there are wheelchairs to be borrowed there?
|
Yes, there are wheelchairs available at the Vatican Museums.

I seem to be having a problem with successfully getting an e-mail response to the reservation request. a few days before 2 months out, I sent an e-mail asking for a reservation for a family of four, with a preferred date and time, but also with other available dates. I waited 8 days, and sent a 2nd request, (now within the 2 month window). Anyone else have this problem? or am I just too early?
|
Perhaps their response is in your spam/bulk folder.

April 2008 we used Tickitaly.com to book a private tour of museums, chapel, basilica: 5 persons @ 68 euro per person (not a misprint). Rather pricey, but no real wait (itself worth the fare) and our guide was entertaining, informative, delightful. She spoke english beautifully and made it fun for our young children (10-13 years).
|
Forget the private tours. I used the e-mail address for the Vatican museum, sent a request on Thursday May 29, asking for the English-speaking tour of the Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel at 10:30 on June 20...I received a confirmation e-mail the very next day!!!
In this rare case, ignore the warnings of Rick Steves that you won't hear back--for 29.50 euros per person you get the admission to the museum, a two hour tour with a Vatican guide, and best, NO WAITING!! |
Great information! My sister's and I are going to Rome in September for 5 days. Do you think it is too soon to request the Vatican tours?
|
This is the confirmation I received when I contacted them via Email.
Do I just bring this paper with me to the entrance? I am not sure if this is the confirmation or not (because it does say 'form' and not confirmation or anything) but they do not request any other information. Does anyone know? Thank you so much! Yes, bring the print out confirmation to the entrance that is for the tours (it is by the museum entrance, not by the Basilica),
Make sure to bring it with you since I had lost mine and they had no record of my confirmation (see my trip ost!) Enjoy---it is a great tour. Kathy |
Yep, bring that paper to the entrance. You show it to the guys outside the door and they show you where to go in. You present it at the Guided Tour window (which had NO LINE), pay for your tickets, and they direct you over to your group.
I thought it was a great tour, and well worth the money. Especially when we got to skip the line of 5,000 people waiting outside the museum. |
Also, don't do like we did and wait until the last minute to walk from St. Peter's Square to the museum. It took a good 10 minutes (at least) for us to make our way over there, and we barely made it in by our assigned time. Luckily, our group was waiting on a big bunch to join us, so they had not left yet when we got there.
Also, I would suggest showing up a bit early to hit the ladies' room before the tour starts. There is one in the lobby. Once you're on the tour, it's a long time until you emerge from the crowds again, so plan ahead! :) |
I sent an email one week ago and haven't heard anything back yet! What information have people sent in their request? Is it possible I missed something and that is why I haven't received any email back? I've checked my junk and spam filters also. We will be there on June 30, so I think we're within the timeframe to request tickets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
