I read through a few Fallas blogs about mantillas. Seems the Queen of Spain is the ony one allowed to wear a white one when visiting the Pope.

Also, certain religious holidays should be attended with the black one.

Young girls the white. Or beige.
When older you can wear black.

Some say it is a fashion to wear one or the other. And the Fallera Mayor (Queen) sometimes will be wearing the opposite colored one to her court.

If I learn anything gripping or read something a little more clear, I certainly will fill you in.

The dresses and theiir components are very expensive, even if you try to go with a lower quality, in which case most people would just rent a dress.

The mantillas alone can cost about 300-1,300 euros.
A nice dress close to 3,000 euros. Then you have the multiple underskirts, aprons, collars, mantillas, hairpieces, jewelry, special stockings, matching shoes, wraps, and surely I have forgotten something.

Families save and little by little buy and upgrade the outfits and accesories. Birthdays and Christmas are good moments for the family to add something special. You can see why they are handed down generation to generation, and lent and borrowed to cousins and sister-in-laws.

Yes, Nou Campanar cost 900,000 euros.
