Urgent help needed Rome
Everyone was so helpful when I needed accomadations for Florence. Now that I have that taken care of, I am on to Rome.
I need accomadations from Oct 6 to 10th. Again the places I tried are all booked. Any little gems out there that are within a budget of 130E a night. Would love Campo area or around via di serrennti |
Have you tried Hotel Portoghese? They have a web site and it's not far from Piazza Navona. Not sure what the rates will be for October.
|
Thanks Eyes.
That looks like a lovely hotel. A bit pricey 190 E a night but I will save it in case nothing else turns up. Thanks again. I am getting nervous. Really would like to be in a central and nice location . |
Have you tried www.lastminute.com? You can search by your budgeted amount and also by neighborhood, if you have a particular one in mind.
Buon Viaggio, BC |
Is that the same as the Hotel Portoghesi? I stayed there on my last visit to Rome and it's in a fantastic location, very close to the Piazza Navona. I thought it was a very good value with a cute breakfast area on the roof.

Have you tried www.venere.com ? You can restrict your search to hotels with availability, narrow it down by area and sort by price.
|
lyban, we stayeda at the Residenza Canali this past Feb/March for E130 per night (that was the discount for cash). I'm not sure what the rates would be in October.
We loved this hotel, and we will stay there again when we return to Rome. It is perfectly located, around the corner from the Piazza Navona. There is no elevator. |
Stayed here in 2005 and plan to stay there again next month:
http://www.italianbandb.com/ 10 minutes walk to the Coliseum, and a metro stop just outside of their front door. Great restaurants nearby (Romeantica & Trattoria Luz), great gelato in the neighborhood. Church of San Giovanni, worth seeing, is just 5 minutes away. |
arcos bed and breakfast its on travel library
|
Thanks again everyone,
I am trying them all and waiting to hear. Please keep them coming. |
What about an apartment? You can find some pretty neat ones in very good areas for what you want to spend.

I have rented apts. in other cities but I thought that for such a short stay 4 nights that I would be better off with a hotel. I have emailed 11 places and so far 4 came back with no avail. and one with a 200E a night price.
|
This is where it can get strange, but may work to your advantage. You are in Rome for 4 or 5 nights. You might find that a 7 day (or night) rental comes out less expensive than a 4 or 5 day. Also, the rental owner/agent would prefer a weeklong rental over a few nights.
You can check out Sleep in Italy or VRBO to see what is available for your price and dates. dave |
I am still waiting replies from different places.
Would anyone be familiar with the area of Via Panisperna 94, Can you tell me where it is near and if it is safe. Thanks |
Locanda Senatorum was absolutely fabulous - $125 Euro/night last October - less than 2 minutes walk to the Pantheon and 2 minutes another direction to Largo Argentina (major bus routes!!) no elevator and it's 2 stories up but couldn't beat that location!!
|
Via Panisperna 94 is in Monti, which is a very nice, centrally located area in which many Romans still live
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Via+Pa...p&ct=title not far from Santa Maria Maggiore, the Forum, the Esquiline Hill, etc etc. an electric bus that runs up/down via Serpenti connects across neighborhoods nicely. We rented an apt in Monti for a week and very much enjoyed the area. |
arcos bed and breakfast is a (confusingly-named) apartment. just reserved for start of october and its 150 per night for the apartment, cheaper to rent the rooms separately (hence B&B).
|
Hotel Smeraldo - right near Campo de Fiora
|
Another plug for Venere - you can see what hotels have availability for your dates, *exactly* where they are & can book most of them online with instant confirmation.
I have used it in several cities with success. When you aren't after a particular hotel, using Venere seems to me much easier than e-mailing individual hotels & waiting to hear back (or not). |
Thanks again everyone. I have emailed all suggestions. I am also trying Venere though in my price range getting some seedy looking places. I am also emailing for appartments. I feel like I am getting closer.
