Tom,

What is the connection time CDG to FCO? and was that flight with AF too? I am considering this for 2009.

Dejais Nov 20th, 2007 02:18 PM

Tom...I just wanted to say that I truly LOVED your photos. Thank you so much for sharing.

Dejais Nov 20th, 2007 02:22 PM

Sorry, I forgot my question....Where did you shoot from for the photo of the Arc de Triomphe with the Champs Elysses stretched out in front of it? (Sixth row down in "The Rest") Lovely...

Thank you, sir, for a new view of the sights we last saw in June. Ah, Paris...

Barb - My flight landed at 11:40am, my connecting flight was at 2pm on an AF codeshare with Alitalia

Dejais - I actually took that one while I was on the giant ferris wheel at Place De La Concorde. A very cool experience as the cars you are in spin.

When I showed the pictures to my husband this morning, besides him saying they were spectacular (and he's a professional photographer!), he wondered about the shot location of the same photo as Dejas was asking about.

Thanks for clearing that up. We'll be sure to ride the ferris wheel next April. Of course, the trees won't be so colorful . sigh...

Well Tom, you definitely should be getting paid for these photos!!! I may not be an expert, - but yours are gorgeous! Thank you for sharing. And the additional ones are great too.

You remind how much I love Paris!!!

Thank you for the wonderful pictures, Tom!

I was there from October 27-November 3 and I only wish I could go back with a better camera (and your talent!) and capture it all again.

Tom,

These are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks so much for posting them. Well worth missing the Seattle GTG for :D

When I was showing them to DH he said that he has the same camera, but wasn't able to get the great night shots you got and asked me to ask you what lens you were using?

Hope to meet at the next Seattle GTG. Looks like you had a fantastic trip!

crefloors Nov 20th, 2007 06:54 PM

Makes me want to cry, I want to be back there. I was there last year the first part of November and there was no where near the fall color you got, just beautiful pictures. What a fabulous city and thanks for sharing.

swisshiker - Thank you and your husband for the kind words. Glad you both like the photos. Also, the colors may not be the same when you are there, but at least you will be in Paris!! I would be very interested in your husbands photography of Paris.

Tina - Thank you too. Too bad we didn't know we were in Paris at the same time. It would have been cool to meet up with another Fodorite while I was there.

artlover - Sounds like the Seattle GTG was a good time. What did Katie send you guys. Still up for a K9 GTG soon?

As for your DH's question. I was using the 18-135mm lens that came with the camera. I was alternating between the manual and aperture priority settings. This allows you to control how long the exposure is.

Also, I was was using a 'gorillapod' instead of a tripod. This is a cool little device. It has flexible legs that wrap around things. Like the shots of the of the inner court of the Louvre, I tied it down to a trashcan of all things. Also, tell him to use the self timer, this eliminates any camera shaking.

crefloors - I hear you. I have fallen in LOVE with Paris. I will be back for a third trip soon!!!

Tom

Tom...Well, thanks for clearing that up. I do believe that ferris wheel will be going on my list for April.

Swisshiker...Perhaps we will be on the same ride in April. I know you will be with the husband calmly taking the professional shots and I will be one of two women in the car above you laughing and saying...now just how DID Tom get that photo??? Click....nah....click....maybe....click....:)

Wow! Great photos. Now I know what I want for Xmas: a new camera and another trip to Paris. Sigh. Thanks for sharing!!

goferfan512 Nov 21st, 2007 06:39 AM

Absolutely stunning photos Tom! I really liked the different categories you had, gave me great ideas for organizing my photo album. I had also looked at photos from your other trips and they are all equally stunning!

Sadly, from here on out all of us will look at our pictures of Europe and think to ourselves "Nice...but Tom's were so much BETTER!" :)

Your pictures are fantastic! Looking at them just makes me even more excited to go on my planned trip in January!

Oh, Tom! You transported me back to my first visit to Paris, November 2002. Your photos were like being there again. Thanks for the memories!
