Thank you all.

Moolyn - we were in the Lake District between August 4 and 8. Weather could have been better, but we did get one full day sunshine.

I am still trying to find a way to reduce the image size of multiple pictures by one command. I am dreading having to do that one by one. My average picture size is 5MB! Hopefully, will have it figured out over the weekend.

"I am still trying to find a way to reduce the image size of multiple pictures by one command."

You can do that with Microsoft Picture Manager, if you have Office 2003 or 2007 (use the Compress pictures... command in the Pictures menu). You can also do it with Picasa, though it's slightly more complicated. (Remember to keep a back up of your photos :) )

Thanks again, Ahmed, this is one of the best trip reports I've ever read. I'd echo the poster who said what a wonderful husband and father you are, to arrange so many wonderful experiences for your family. And all without obsessive pre-planning of every second !

I've managed to put up some of the pictures - flickr will only display upto 200 of them for now. They came out in reverse order too!

Ahmed, your sense of fun and your family first priority comes through just as much in your photos as in your report. Thanks so much for taking time to share with us!

You didn't mention what part of Canada you are from but, in case you are in or near Toronto, you might like to know that there is a get together planned for September 12th. You can find more information about this on the Canada forum.

ahmedhaff:

Nice to put faces to the people in this report - lovely family.

I noticed at one time some in your little group were wearing gloves and looked cold. Family wearing short sleeved tops at the end so it must have warmed up.

I don't think I've ever seen such exuberance on faces as your family wore.

It's redundant to ask if they enjoyed themselves.

Thank you all so much - you guys are way too kind. This flickr thing has edited all the Edinburgh and Manchester pics. I just need a bit a time to fix that.

I shall return.

Really great pictures, ahmedhaff. Loved the shots of your son being coached in the nets and wearing his whites after in London - did you have to go the whole hog and buy the boots and pads as well?

Alton Towers - I hate the place and similar parks, but my kids just LOVE them. You mean you didn't get a picture looking vertically down from the top of Oblivion? >)

BTW, I have spent the afternoon fiddling around on Flickr, so thanks to NeoPatrick for recommending this site. My pictures came out backwards too - and I can't work out how to turn them round... Apart from that it's really easy to use.

Thanks again for a readable and uplifting trip report. I look forward to your next one!
