Trenitalia Spending Limit

I'm just starting to buy our train tickets on Trenitalia.com. I've purchased only $270 worth so far (1 one-way trip for 8 people)and am trying to buy the rest of our tickets.

In doing so, I keep getting this error message "You have exceeded your monthly spending limit allowed and the transaction has not been made. Please remember that you cannot make futher purchases this month. If you want to raise your spending limit, find out how". The link it sends me to is in Italian.

Anyone have a similar issue? Anyway to change this?

TYIA :-)

I've never heard of this (I guess I don't buy that many tickets).

This is what I found:

http://www.tiny.cc/IbM8a

MAXIMUM MONTHLY SPENDING
For security reasons, the value of the tickets purchased in a month cannot exceed 516.46 euro.
Registered customers can check on the amounts spent in a month on their own "Orders Summary/Riepilogo Ordini" page, accessible from the Customers Area.

HOW TO INCREASE YOUR MONTHLY SPENDING LIMIT
If you expect to exceed the monthly spending limit associated to your user profile, you can apply in writing for an increase by sending a fax to 06/44104036 stating:

- your User ID,
- a contact telephone number
- a photocopy of a valid identity document
- a photocopy of your tax code number
- a brief explanation of why you want to increase your spending limit, or to be authorised to use more credit cards

Within 48 hours you will receive the outcome of your request by e-mail on your e-mail address
For more information, contact the Call Center on 89 20 21 operating every day 24 h (see the cost)

Good Luck.

Another option. Open a second account with a different name, password. The very poor design that makes booking tix difficult can also work to one's advantage as it's easily "fooled".

good advice from Steve.

You can open multiple accounts at www.yahoo.com and www.hotmail.com.

The question is does it recognize the limit by account or by credit card?

Thank you all for your input!
