Well, I want to do it, and it makes sense for me economically. I was truly sad when they discontinued the night train between Munich and Paris. I hate the day-train ride (have had problems with broken trains and last-minute substitutions that entailed some running with suitcases...) and of course also hate flying.

Well yes the reason so many overnight trains have been withdrawn - cheaper airfares and high-speed trains - whereas one you could take night train Paris-Amsterdamfor instance that was withdrawn years ago when the high-speed Thalys train make the journey in about 4 hours.

Do you know when that train ran? Been taking trains to Paris from the 1980s, but for the life of me I can't remember there ever was a night train to Paris.
