Train(s) from Lucerne to Barcelona?
 

Prior to going on a cruise round the Mediterranean, the DH and I will be visiting relatives in Germany, and then have 9 days to spend somewhere. I really want to make Lucerne our base, and we'll probably spend our time there, but I need ideas re: how to get from there to Barcelona.
On a previous trip we took the overnight Thalys from Barcelona to Paris, so I'm a little familiar with how that works. But is there something similar that connects (sort of) Lucerne to Barcelona?

On bahn.com, a train leaves Luzern at 9 a.m. changing in Geneva and Valence, arriving Barcelona 8:30 pm

You can fly on Vueling from Geneva to Barcelona for a lot less time and money.

To go straight thru yes fly - there is no overnight train on that route - but if you want to break your journey about half way - stop in the Avignon area - heart of tourist Provence with lots to do in a compact area - then it's about 5 hours via TGV from there to Barcelona. plane from Basel, Zurich or Geneva to Barcelona.
All by train:
Lucerne dp 8.00 - Barcelona ar 19.31; change at Geneva and Lyon.

Take the TRAIN to the ZRH airport (an hour or perhaps slightly less)

Fly on Vueling to Barcelona; they have 2 non stops every day.
