In summer, the easiest is the Marozzi bus as it goes all the way from Rome to Positano without any changes. It takes a bit longer than the train and only runs twice a day, but you don't have to schlep luggage on and off different transport.
The fast train from Rome to Naples only takes 70 minutes now. I would not switch to a ferry as ferries don't run that often. Train to Sorrento from Naples and the bus to Positano. |
That's great info thanks very much!!!! How long is the bus from rome to positano?

And the cost if you remember? Thx!

We were a party of 4 going from the Rome airport to Positano. Planned on taking the train but there was a strong chance for a strike on our arrival day and I ended up booking Francesco http://www.francescomarrapese.com/ for a transfer to Positano. For the convenience it was worth the few extra dollars. Used him two more times during our stay. An absolute delight! If you're still considering a car service I can highly recommend him. And yes...it was about 3 hrs.

FYI - If you enter Roma/Positano for schedules on Marozzi, you will only see the 7 am departure. There is an afternoon departure that is Roma/Sorrento at 3pm. You would switch to the local Sita bus in Sorrento to go onto Positano.
