I like NeoPatrick's plan as I would not skip Venice or Bellagio. I would however spend the last night in Milan for easy access to the airport and a quick tour of the Duomo, if not La Scala.

NP: are you referring to one of your reports from your recent trip, spending a week in a city? They said that was "too much hopping around" for them? One week in one city?

I think I'm missing something...

Yes. She mentioned she had seen a "sudden raft of trip reports from me" and since each was for a full week in each city, she said that was too much hopping around for her. She prefers to stay a month in one place. Those who saw it will know that she is a total nut job, but it was funny anyway. She's also the one who said I lack compassion for my partner and am "invading his privacy" by mentioning his Alzheimers in my threads about traveling with him. (Play Psycho music here!)
