debinthepeg - I'm working on the final part of the report -- just have too much work and real life getting in the way right now to complete it! It will be done very soon!

elisgrifiths - I enjoyed your photos of Toledo!

Hi michele_d

You can walk it ( puff ,puff !!) or I saw a bus go by and it was not a tourist bus.

I had a private guide and so we drove and stopped along the way to Parador from various lookout points. !

Then we did Toldeo and the many major places, bridges,

Many of the pictures below , across the River are from the Parador Lookout places, hotel area included.

Thank you to all for the great information. We'll be in Toledo for two nights in July for our first visit--can't wait!

<<Of course no pictures of El Greco painting>>

I've got one! Everyone was taking pictures - I don't think there was a no photo sign. If there was, I missed it!

<<Of course no pictures of El Greco painting>>

Yes, there was a sign saying no photos were to be taken of The Burial of Count Orgaz at the church of Santo Tomé, and a rather stern gentlemen was watching the crowd closely. Nobody had their camera (or cell phone) out. Got lots of other El Greco painting shots around town, but even a scofflaw like me kept my camera away there.

Yes, did appreciate the El Greco painting of Burial of Count Orgaz in the chapel. Depicted quite a gathering for the occasion, right? Maybe a few extras? One of our party did take a pict but I just snapped one of the nearby poster with holes for faces.

Listen to maitaitom

She is correct about the stern looking security guard watching if anyone takes a photo.

Andit is not like there are lots of people around...only a certain amout get in at a time.

If you want a nice picture ...get it off the internet.

If you dare try to sneak a picture:

1.You will get dirty looks.
2. Others will tell you "No pictures" and point to the sign.

3. You could get your camera confiscated.

Judge yourself accordingly.

Did I take or tried to take a pictures...heck No!!

"Listen to maitaitom"

There is a first for everything!

"She is correct about the stern looking security guard watching if anyone takes a photo."

Although I respect Bruce Jenner's gender decision, I remain a guy.

The guard must've been on his break, because no one bothered any of the crowd, snapping away! My bad, but they'll have to come after me now - I definitely did not see the sign and I suppose the rest of the crowd was equally oblivious (or ignored it).

I would NEVER (fingers crossed behind my back) do something like that intentionally! :)

Percy Jun 19th, 2015 07:21 PM

oops sorry about that one !!

Percy Jun 20th, 2015 06:19 AM

Not exactly a reply but since we are on Toledo, I need all the help I can get for this will be my first trip to Spain.

On Sept.20th We will be leaving Granada right after the afternoon guided tour at Alhambra. The goal is to drive a rental car to Toledo (the fastest way to get there) that evening. By the time we check in at a hotel in Toledo , we are likely to be so tired and simply go to sleep (by then we will be on day 20th of a 22-day tour of Spain with Camino Way included). We have to stay at the hotel at Madrid airport on the 21st in order not to miss an early flight on the 22nd for NYC. I know, so much to do and so little time for Toledo, what are the must dos?

maitaitom Jun 30th, 2015 11:29 AM

"what are the must dos?"
in my opinion:
Toledo Cathedral (remarkable)
Take the little tourist train to Mirador de Valle late in late afternoon for golden colors (only takes about an hour of your time…you catch it at Plaza de Zocodover)
El Greco painting at Iglesia de Santo Tome
Monasterio de San Juan de Los Reyes
Most importantly…a large GinTonic!

We spent 2 1/2 days in Toledo. We could have spent another. We loved Toledo!

@ fanuj: "The goal is to drive a rental car to Toledo (the fastest way to get there) that evening. By the time we check in at a hotel in Toledo , we are likely to be so tired and simply go to sleep" -- If you are going to be that tired, will you actually be safe drivers? You might consider skipping Toledo, magnificent as it is.... If you do go, then ONLY you can decide what are YOUR "must dos" -- consult ANY guidebook for some ideas.
