I have been going to matches for the best part of 30 years - yes, it is normally referred to as The Match, Football or footie overhere, but is nonsense to say we really don't like it been called soccer - Anyone remember TV programmes such as "Soccer Night" on British Television

I find in Ireland that people from Dublin and people that don't watch Gaelic call football "football" and call Gaelic "gaelic" People from the country tend to call football "soccer" and gaelic "football". (can ya tell which group I belong to?!).

I know quite a few that call rugby "rugger" too!

I'd always assumed that people only use the term 'rugger' when they're taking the proverbial!
