Day 2: travel from Morocco o Spain, start in the morning

Visit the biggest cities if you are attracted by the architect, but my choice will be to visit smaller, but beautiful places

I appreciate the advice. I feel like seeing some of the smaller, less touristy things is a good thing. Obviously I'm going to hit some of the bigger stuff, but its like when people come to NYC and go to Times Square. I never want to be that tourist lol!

OK - just my 2¢ . . . traveling in the heat of summer and with some mobility issues, Andalusia and Morocco are about two of the very last places I'd want to visit.

I would also not want to visit the country of Morocco for a short time in the summer when the inside of the country can be blistering hot. I like the idea of visiting Spanish basque country for three weeks. Having a car would help to visit some areas. Rather than Morocco I would rather branch out to explore the coasts towards Bordeaux, Bordeaux and even parts of the Dordogne for short trips of a few nights.

I prefer Morocco in the winter often 25C and a little rain.

How about Berlin, Denmark and the Baltics?

In July I would head north. Since you're interested in Berlin, you could add Denmark and/or the Baltic countries instead of the very hot southern part of Europe.

I was in a car accident this past January where I fractured my spine. I have not driven yet and don't want my first time back in a car to be in Spain, but I was looking at ways to explore the areas you suggested.

Visit Istanbul/Sultanahmet

Istanbul is definitely a must-see city. And if you are into history, you better take a look around Sultanahmet/Old City. Many, many historical and mystic locations to see and explore. But I suggest, you better stay a day or two and I prefer boutique hotels. Much more cozy and worth the money.
Hope this helps :)

17569172[/url]]I am looking to go in July. Leave early July. And I appreciate it!

So, it’s the second week of June and you’re planning to go in July? Of this year or 2025? Because if it’s this year you’re WAY behind on planning and tickets. Your “itinerary”, as it were, is way too complicated. I mean no disrespect and I know what it’s like to plan ones vacation. Your eyes are bigger than your stomach, as the saying goes, but to plan on visiting Berlin, then Bilbao, then somewhere in Morocco and then Italy is really pushing it because unless you have a private airplane or the like it’s really just too much. I’d focus on one or two countries at most such as Germany and Italy, or France and Italy but adding Spain and Morocco? In three weeks? Even my wife and I, very seasoned travelers, wouldn’t even try to tackle that and I’m one who normally does a lot of driving or train travel on trips. Try paring it down a little. It will help.

I must also say that this year Europe and last year and the year before has experienced VERY HIGH and unseasonable weather. In Lombardia, for example, on May 27th it was 28 c which is highly unusual. Here in Milo’s, where we are now, it’s been a solid 28+ for 4 days. That’s without heat index. Today it was 33. Locals say it’s never been this hot here and Morocco has had even higher temperatures.

Very true. We were in Budapest end April and the first two days it was pretty cold and we were regretting not bringing our puffer jackets. Then suddenly overnight it became quite hot, with highs of 30-33 the next three days.

We go next to Krakow, where the previous week they had snow flurries. And again hot sunny days with highs around 32-33.

We had packed for cold weather and were baking in our long pants and full sleeves. Lessons learned, just as you pack layers, also pack a couple of sleeveless tops and lighter pants. Also a sunhat, it takes little or no space! 😉

What do you think about Instanbul for a solo female traveler? I have traveled to Peru, Costa Rica, Paris, Jamaica, DR, and a few others on my own. What about Instanbul? And thank you!

No disrespect taken. Initially I was thinking about how travel in Europe is spoken about as so easily done, but I realize I threw too much out there, and appreciate the many who let me know. I have been to Spain before and regret not going to Morocco then. I know there is a lot in Spain, but I had really wanted to include Morocco in, but feel like so many of you are giving me good advice regarding the weather and time of year.

Greece is suffering under a heat wave and Majorca airport just closed due to flooding

Climate change is the new normal so plan accordingly

shelemm Jun 12th, 2024 10:47 AM

Right now the temperatures in Athens are staggering, for two weeks, but are predicted to go down.... to the normal very, very hot, of course.

We’re in Athens now. When we arrived around 2:15 it was 38 with heat index of 41. Now, at midnight it’s a very bearable 32. We took a bus tour to the Temple of Poseidon where, at sunset, the temps went down to 28. Humidity, however, was 78%. It’s supposed to be very hot in Lombardia when we return tomorrow, forecast to be 31. It was 32 in Milos yesterday morning (June 12). I’m used to it all having grown up in NYC which usually has high humidity all summer.

Weather and climate everywhere is changing. Where we live in New England April and May were unseasonably hot, for New England that is, with temps hovering around 22-25 and then it went down to 12-15 towards the end of May. When we return it’ll be around 25 again which I love and the native born hate because it’s not usually that hot on our island. Yes, we live on an island and vacation on islands
