This site makes me crazy!
I found this site while doing research for my very first trip to Europe the last 2 weeks of March. Now I spend all day at work reading and re-reading these postings. (It is our slow time of year thank goodness!) My point is that reading about everyones great trips is driving me crazy because I still have 6 weeks to wait. I go home each night and am so excited my husband thinks I have lost it. I need serious help!

Vicki, <BR>Topped two posts for you <BR>1-Tommy's Life is Ruined.... <BR>2-You People Ruined My Life. <BR>Read these and find out you are in good(?) company, and see that your madness has just begun! <BR>I wish I could find the post, where people wrote what they actually did with their time, when Fodor's went down for a day or two, this past month! <BR>It is sad, very sad, what we resort to doing with our time when thios site isn't working! <BR>Where are you going? <BR>Lucky you, only 6 weeks! <BR>we still have over 4 months to go,(and I made our apt. reservations last April!) <BR>Enjoy your trip. <BR>

I am mortified to admit that I am addicted to this website! I too, just found this site a couple of months age, and I too, spend WAAAAAY too much time on this! We are leaving in 4 weeks, 4 days, and 23 hours!!! And, I can hardly stand it as well!!! <BR>People will tell you to get another hobby other than travel...now I just surf the net looking for pictures of other people's trips!!! <BR>I am a travel addict who can't stop!!! <BR>HEEEEELP ME PLEASE!!!! I'M DROWNING IN THOUGHTS OF PARIS...ROMA...BARCELONa...BUDAPEST.... <BR>GLUG...GREECE...GLUG,GLUG...ENGLAND........... glug..........glug..........glug... <BR>
I know what they were doing when this site was down...visiting the lonely planet site! That is how I found out about fodors. I will be traveling around the UK, visiting England and Scotland. But I have a feeling this is just the beginning. I want to see the whole world!
I know! I know! My suitcase is out and some clothes are in for my late JUNE/JULY trip to Ireland/London/Paris! <BR>Going shopping on Thur. for some more clothes to put in suitcase. If I have to wait at least I can go shopping.... <BR>Plus, working out, walking, strength training so I will look good for Paris! <BR>Patti

I'm addicted and it is not a cheap addiction. I'm always getting ideas for our future trips. My husband says I am "obsessed" with traveling to Europe and with this website. He says there are other places to go - that we should see more of the United States. No, I don't think so!
I know how you people feel. I spend the few hours I have each evening at home on this site. Our trip to France in July 2001 is well into the planning stages and hotels are being booked on a daily basis.........what can I say it gets me through the long winter we are having this year............... <BR>I too have purchased some things in an attempt to travel lighter and lighter.....today I picked up some special suntan lotion for the face in the teeniest jar and an even tinier tube of hand crea. All stuff I need but don;t want to carry in large containers. <BR>Oh well, 5 months today I will be in Aix..........sigh!!!!!!!!! <BR>oh yes Im addicted, but I hope I help others with some ideas while Im feeding my addiction........ :) <BR>

you guys are making me crazy. so please pull out of it and stop any further postings on this dumb topic.
Tim: <BR> <BR>Too bad you can't share in the other postings and everybody else's enthusiasm (which I think is WONDERFUL too many people who have travelled seem to appear/act jaded)!. There's no need for you to be rude though. <BR> <BR>Vicki - glad to hear you're excited. You're going to have a great time. Seeing things and experiencing them seems to replenish my soul. I've been to the Musee d'Orsay in Paris6 times now and every single time is like a new experience!
I agree <BR>fun is fun.... <BR>to the top! <BR>
I think that half of the fun of going on a trip is all the pre-planning and anticipation. Happy travels to all.
NOT a cheap addiction! <BR> <BR>In the UK, we don't have unmetered internet access yet, so this is NOT a cheap addiction for me. Fortunately, I can spend most of my time at work 'surfing' on Fodors and Lonely Planet. <BR> <BR>BUT what will I do tomorrow? I'm leaving work....will I have to leave Fodors as well?? <BR> <BR>(Fortunately, unmetered internet access is imminent, so it should only be a short absence!)

I am so happy that I found this site! We are getting ready to travel to Europe for the 1st time in Sept. The only site had I found prior to this was the Thorn Tree at Lonely Planet and I was getting so sad reading the crass postings that I thought maybe I'd be better off just staying home! Anyway, I am glad to ber HERE.

I too have become addicted to this site. My husband and children cannot believe how much time I spend reading about Italy. I am going for the first time and this site has helped me so much. Who knew "pack light" is a mantra! <BR>Anyhow, I leave in July and will continue to read til then.....
Only lasted 4 hours...had to have my Fodors fix....now at my local library!
Sad to say...I'm hooked, my kids think I'm a geek, but it beats reality to talk and dream about trips, we are leaving in 2 weeks for France, and I'm already planning a Xmas trip tp Hawaii!...unless one of you knows a hot, sunny beach to spend the holidays at in Europe...

After finding this site a couple of weeks ago (and loving all the great info on it) I tried some of the other BBs on verious travel sites. I've concluded that this site is by far the best!! The format is easier for the first time user and the search option is so concise I rarely need to ask a "new" question. Fodor's is IT!!!

As a half-seasoned traveler this web site is a dream. Your right, half the fun of a trip is the planning. We've leaving for Italy March 8 and I am planning Spain for next May. I'm sick--really sick.
well, let's see, everything is booked for Prague/Vienna this April, research is mostly done for Spain this October, just bought a guide book for Greece-May of 2002, and I think Morocco would be wonderful for the fall of 2002. I have a lot of research to do, so I can easily justify my many hours here at Fodors. Nothing crazy about that.

Count me among the "crazies". I love this site. I have another problem...I have a hard time not printing a lot of the threads for future reviewing. Several times I have not printed off an interesting topic and then when I went back to search for it it was gone.....Any ideas for reducing my print ing problem? jwg

I have microsoft word on my computer and I keep a page open underneath when I am on this site. Then anything I want to remember wether it's one sentence or a whole message I just hilight, go to edit and click copy then click the word button at the bottom of the screen and when my page opens click paste. Then just click on the browser button at the bottom to go back to where you were on the site. Works really good and saves you from having to print volumes. When I'm finished I save the page for future reference. This works really well for me.
Vickie, you are a genius! Thank you for the tip on "saving" items. I have been interested in this very thing. <BR> <BR>Merci, <BR>Gloria <BR>
vicki, thanks so much - can't wait to try this. jwg
vicki, it worked!! thanks, jwg
Thank you!! That is so great. I also have been printing tons of stuff. I'm so glad I looked at this thread. Is is true, though, that we can no longer search on specific countries? If so, that's really too bad.

Vicki <BR> <BR>I'm researching a trip to Italy and my "cut and paste file" from this site currently numbers about 100 pages (definitely a Fodors addict). I usually bold a couple of key words from the clip for easier identification later. At some point, I will go back and organize the clips into separate files--hotels/restaurants/sights, etc. for easy referencing. Then, when we are just about ready to leave, I'll delete the clips I no longer need and print out the rest to take along. This works great for me.
