Thin at Versailles
We are leaving for Paris on Monday. I think I am the first Fodorite to return to Paris after lockdown.
We will visit Versailles and also attend the Chanel show at the Palais Galliera. Tickets were purchased. Wish us luck. Thin, aristocrat 🦌 |
Enjoy it including the food since I suspect a LOT of eating places will be open.
|
Have a great trip, Thin! I’m jealous! Hope you post a picture or two.
|
go for it
|
Thin, I am so envious. I will have to live vicariously through your fabulous trip report. Bonne chance!

Moved to Europe board and tagged for France
|
Hope you get few crowds at Versailles. Have a good time

Hi Thin:
I am heading to Paris early September so will miss the Chanel exhibition :(. The YSL museums is now open. Also, Dali/Gaudi at the Atelier Lumiere is worth a visit. L'Atelier des Lumières - Site officiel - Créé par Culturespaces (atelier-lumieres.com) Have a great trip. Regards Ger |
Awesome. I hope you have a fab time!
|
Saw the YSL museum the week after it opened. IF you are interested in fashion, worth the look. It's in his house so quarters are tight and they were controlling the number of people inside at one time. There were kinks to iron out. I'm sure they have dealt with them by now. We also say Dior and it was gorgeous, sorry to not see Chanel.
I've been watching a YouTube site that takes walks through areas of Paris. It's current and fun to watch. |
dead jealous and hoping to live vicariously through your TR.
There will be a TR I hope! |
https://www.dfs.com/en/samaritaine I have watched a few youtube videos of the store reopening. It is close to where we will be staying in November. Enjoy.
|
Thanks. We are definitely going shopping at Samaritane. I will post many photos so you can all be pea-green with envy. 🤩
We can't wait to dine at Garance, Pottoka, Petit Cler, Philippe Excoffier, Violon d'Ingres. Thin, aristocrat 🤩 |
Ger, thanks for the info. You are missed here by many. Your trip reports are awesome.

Thin, hopefully Versailles won’t be as packed as it usually is. Obviously I don’t know how much time you’ve allocated to Versailles but Marie Antoinette’s folly and the farm area is really good if you haven’t been there on other trips. It’s still a working farm.
I am very envious of the exhibitions you are going to see. Years ago I saw the Alexander MacQueen exhibition at The Met and it was a highlight of the trip. |
Will definitely be monitoring this thread to hear (and hopefully see) all of your Paris adventures.
Enjoy every minute. Oh, how I wish I was in Paris! |
You are vey kind Thin :)
During my 2017 trip I had dinner at Les Papilles, 30 rue Gay Lussac. Very popular with the locals. Chef bases the daily menu based on what he finds in the market that day. BTW, Damian Hirst Cherry Blossoms showing at the Foundation Cartier! Regards Ger |
See if they will be running the fountains while you can go to Versailles. We saw them one -- magnificent!
