I think the Shard is magical looking, at night or in daytime, seen coming up the river or anywhere.
Walkie Talkie. Thanks! Now I remember the melted cars. It's a bit on the eyesore side, though it may grow on me. I think you're the one, Jamie, who alerted me to One New Change. Not in itself a noble addition to the skyline, but innocuous architecture and a fun rooftop for drink and free views. |
Oh yes! One New Change has fabulous views of St Paul's...you can take the lift up for free as well if you don't want dinner or drinks!
Hideous building though! |
Wow, that Heron Tower perch looks fantastic. Thanks
|
There is a bar at Sushi Samba that has amazing views and no charge to go up...just need to buy a fairly expensive cocktail!
|
Super photos! You've done a great job. Thanks for sharing!
|
Thanks benterry :)

Thanks guys!

Jamikins, I am late to this party but found your photos while searing for views in London. Your photos are wonderful and give me something to aspire to. We'll be in London in May and want to find a spot where we can take photos of the city and skyline.
|
Thanks so much!
Some ideas for nice views The new Sky Garden...book online tickets in advance, it is free The Shard OXO tower Madison restaurant at One New Change - free terrace The Eye Cafe at the Tate Modern - free entry Hope this helps! |
The classic skyline views would be from the Golden Jubilee walkways at Hungerford Bridge, between Waterloo and Charing Cross. There's one each side, so you can get views of Westminster and the London Eye one way, and of St Paul's and the City from the other side.
|
Thanks for the great photos, jamikins.
We too are going to London in May. I was thinking of The Eye, which I've never been on, but now I'm wondering about The Shard. Thanks also for the other suggestions. |
Glad you liked the pics! I highly recommend the view from the terrace of Madison at One New Change...but go before the crowds after work get there. It's free and lovely!
|
Jamikins, Thank you for the suggestions, I will look into them.
