Well, this is my very first faux pas.

cigalechanta May 10th, 2004 04:48 PM

yes, your first posting... :)

fauxdorite May 10th, 2004 05:19 PM

You all certainly are imaginative -- however I must warn you that you are infringing on MY name -- heads WILL roll !!!

FauxSteMarie May 10th, 2004 05:28 PM

I could say that you are infringing on mine, but then we could both be "faux".

cigalechanta May 10th, 2004 06:46 PM

Ah, we have here two Faux-dorites.

FauxSteMarie May 10th, 2004 06:55 PM

Appears to be a faux de deux.

(With apologies to Alan Sherman.)

Hello mudder, hello fodor
My last apartment, it had no door
had to quick study defensive karate
while I tried to reach a landlord named Abate.

...

Wait a minute, I'll stop writing
It's not as much fun, as the fighting...
Just remember, this small adage,
Some people have more luggage, some more baggage..

On second thought, apologies to everyone.

OaktownTraveler May 10th, 2004 11:26 PM

hee-hee...

sheila May 10th, 2004 11:45 PM

Clifton, that was FANTASTIC!

fauxdorite May 11th, 2004 01:49 AM

I prefer to think of myself as faux-dorable. As for Ms "FauxSteMarie" -- I suggest she check the pronunciation of her first syllable -- they'd run her off of the Upper Peninsula for sure.

In fact her first syllable should rhyme with what *my* lawyer will do if this misuse continues.

Fauxdorite, such a clever name! Will you ever tell us who you really are? (I noticed that this is your only post under that name, yet you are obviously familiar with this forum.) :-D

capo May 11th, 2004 09:37 AM

Very funny, Clifton...especially karate/Abate!

MelJ May 11th, 2004 11:06 AM

FABOO, Clifton, especially "some have more luggage, some more baggage!

TOO TRUE!

sfowler May 11th, 2004 02:13 PM

Yes Clifton -- simply BRILLIANT :D

Nikki May 11th, 2004 02:17 PM

OK, Clifton wins.

Scarlett May 11th, 2004 03:28 PM

=D> Clifton, how clever you are!!

Clifton May 11th, 2004 07:06 PM

Aw, thanks. I think it was just the late night Tex-Mex. The poblano sauce was causing hallucinations.

Thank goodness I deleted the verse that rhymed Paris with heiress and the unexpected views of the neighbor's terrace...

Wouldn't the proper term be"Fodorsites"? Perhaps "Fodorskis" would be more pleasing to the ear.

cigalechanta Sep 21st, 2004 12:20 PM

I think it came from some early poster who always thought they were right.
Newbies, never. :)

I certainly remember the term "fodorite" originating long before the pins were suggested and created. I'd say it was right around the time Monica organised the first GTG and, although the term may not have been used on her website of photos of the GTG, I do have the vague impression that the term was coined around that time.

As to who coined it, I must admit I can't see why it matters but... it probably wasn't me so... <shrug>

Incidentally, that little ditty by Clinton is indeed brilliant.

And is FauxSteMarie an alias for Lauren, who's posts have gone from this thread?
