The Brtish agree UK hotels a bad value
Well what most of us thought was true has been confirmed. This was reported in yesterdays Financial Times.
"More than two thirds of British business travellers believe overseas hotels give better value for money than those in the UK, according to a new survey. Thirteen per cent take the opposite view and 18 per cent think there is no difference. The research was carried out among senior executives by Company Barclaycard, the corporate charge and credit card issuer. Food and waiter service are clearly a problem for many UK hotels, with 64 per cent and 67 per cent respectively rating them more highly abroad, against 17 per cent and 14 per cent who felt British was best." |
Sorry that's "British"

Good my thoughts have been confirmed. I find the rooms in London hotels to be much smaller than the ones on the continent and they cost either just as much or more.

And to add insult to injury the 17.5 percent VAT
|
Personally, I think many of our hotels over here in the UK are an embarrassment. We need a kick up the butt to shape em all up. No wonder we prefer to go abroad, most of the time its cheaper and the hotels are much much better.

The high cost of hotels in Britain is the primary reason that we now travel to France: lots more for the money.

I can believe it. We stayed last month at a supposedly high quality business class hotel in London and it was almost impossible to get drink service in the lobby lounge area (there were drink menus on the tables). We waited 30 minutes to order and had to make repeated requests for a waiter to take our order. But OTOH the waiter never came back to give us the check, so I guess it evened out.
