Everyone has a different opinon:
1. Morelia, Mexico 2. Florence, Italy 3. Sevilla, Spain |
There are many beautiful places in just about every corner of the world. What makes something the 'best', is being in hte right places at the right time, when everything is just perfect. here are a few of mine:
Hiking the Dachstien in Austria on a beautiful September day. Biking thru rolling fields of grain and tiny hamlets just outside of Charte France. Snorkelling a crystal clear lagoon in Mexico. Having a great pizza at a quiet outdoor cafe in Venice. Walking down into Bryce canyon Utah on a crisp spring morning. And last but not least, cross country skiing thru the mountain trails behind my New Hampshire home after a fresh snowfall. |

I fear the answer will always be Paris...Is it really necessary to explain why ??
|
Just about any one of the beautiful National Parks in the US!
|
mr_go said it. Bernese Oberland it is, followed by Hawaii. I'll be more specific though - Kauai in the Hawaiian islands. Venice is a close 3rd, but it may be put out of place by Cancun/Cozumel.
However like a lot of people have said before me, its impossible to say which is the best place in the world. It depends on each individual, their personality, likes & dislikes, etc., etc. |
We live in Southern California, and I just heard an answer to your question that can't be beat..
"my favorite place is LAX"..because...if I am there it means I am going somewhere, and that's wonderful!!" |
I HAVE read every single reply here. alot of great stuff! But coming from a world traveler as I am, I can make this easy for you. hands down, no questions asked, the BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD IS:
NEW YORK CITY it DOES NOT get any better than that baby! |
well here goes...
Ireland - because my wonderful other half is irish - they make them especially good in ireland! Scotland - cause I live there.... Venice - because its so different and the food is great Rome - for the buildings Fiji - for relaxation Australia - (all 5 places we visited) laid back attitude and great weather Dubai - for diamonds (shh going back again in 6 weeks for an engagement ring - yipee) Thailand - lovely smiling people New York - for the hussle and bustle Germany - for the sausages and festivals Brussels for devine chocolate Prague - for beers (for my other half) America - cause everything is so much bigger - and outlets are excellent for shopping Paris - for the romance sorry but I didnt like Chicago - thought it was grey miserable and run down Milan - not what I expected - bad atmosphere Marie |
"Chicago - thought it was grey miserable and run down"
I agree. I've spent a summer there once and have made frequent business trips. It's among my least favorite big cities. Most buildings are made from that dirty-looking brown brick. The landscape is flat, featureless, treeless and barren. The streets are filty, and the weather is among the worst around. It's only saving grace is that there is a well-dfined Chicago character and sense of place. There's some nice art deco architecture, too. But overall, it's about the last place I'd go for leisure. |
Have you heard of Cinqueterre, Italy? It's amazingly beautiful and plenty to do for kids and adults. Truly a wonderful place to vacation.
|
My Favorite place in the world is Great Britain. it is where I feel most at home
|
The best place in the world is home.
But if you want to see the nicest place in the world and if you are thinking of mountains, then you need to go to Faulhorn (First or Bussalp are other options)in GRINDELWALD Switzerland. Look at it under www.grindelwald.com but to be there is 100 times better |
When I lived in Colorado, an old guy said that when he retired, he would throw a snow shovel over his shoulder and keep walking south until someone said, "Hey, Mister, whatcha carrying?"
I want to do the same, only I'll carry a Rick Steeves Guidebook! |
We flew to Paris and spent the first 3 nights there. We loved Paris! Then rented a van and some of the highlights were: Wurzburg, Germany, down the Romantik Road, through Rothenburg, to Neuschwanstein, Garmish, Berchesgarten, Zugspits, Salzburg, Venice, Lake Cuomo, Lucerne, back into France, and back to Paris. We spend 21 wonderful nights. Lots of other stops that were wonderful. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Our 3 girls loved it, ages 10, 15 and 17. It was a great experience.

O'reilly's, Lamington National Park, Queensland, Australia
That is the best place on earth. |
Places i've visited in order of preference:
Gold Coast, Australia Brisbane, Australia Sydney, Australia Paris, France Cairns, Australia Sunshine Coast, Australia London, England Cambridge, England Melbourne, Australia Dublin, Ireland Cork, Ireland Ennis, Ireland Bunratty, Ireland Limerick, Ireland Donegal, Ireland Derry, Ireland Madrid, Spain Belfast, N. Ireland Malaga, Spain |
Two of the best places in the world:-
San Cirque Le Popie near the Lot river in France - its like a fairy tale village and the views are out of this world. It has a misty light. The houses are like something out of Grimms Fairytales. You MUST go there it is wonderful. The area between the Lot and the Dordogne is a magical place, full of caves and cave paintings, medieval villages and wonderful chocolate shops, just like in the film "Chocolat". |
