Take your own magazines to Greece this summer . . .
The agency that distributes foreign newspapers & magazines in Greece is shuttered & its replacement won't start until the fall.

Oh, horrors! I'll have to change my plans and go somewhere else this summer!
|
I have never been tempted to buy overpriced English-language newspapers and magazines in Greece, especially now that you can read the news for free on the internet.

I am not planning a trip to Greece but thank you for the information. Ignore the snarky comments as it's a frequent occurrence on this forum.

Have no fear historytraveler, Forum trolls are easy to identify & even easier to ignore.
We leave today for Athens/Crete/Santorini, so I was just scanning the local news - on line of course . . . Ian |
Ian, frankly that's a non-issue. If you bring your tablet or netbook with you to Greece you can go online at just about any cafe, because most have wifi for their customers. Maybe that's why the distributor has discontinued the service.
Back in the days before internet some people would buy British papers, but they were always a couple of days late and about three times the price they sell for in the UK. As I wrote, I was never tempted, and that wasn't a "snarky comment". Here are a few newspapers I read online: http://www.telegraph.co.uk http://www.theguardian.com/uk http://www.nytimes.com There are many others, including most of the UK tabloids. If you want to read The Times or Sunday Times online you will need a subscription. |
