$$$ symbols

What are the price ranges for the $$$ symbols in the fodor books?

Rex Mar 18th, 2002 05:56 AM

It's probably explained somewhere in one of the first few chapeters - - and no doubt varies according to which book, in which part of the world. And of curse, they surely change the meaning in the newer updated editions (compared to any slightly out-of-date editions, in case you have them from the library).

Best wishes,

Rex
The price ranges vary depending on the area and the cost of living there, so
at the beginning of each area, along with the historical background, etc., they list the price ranges of food and lodging.

Or more accurately these days, ? symbols!

Sue Mar 18th, 2002 08:12 AM

Whoops, I typed in a euro symbol (hold ALT key, while punching 0128 on number pad), and it showed up as correct symbol on what I was typing, but obviously transmitted as a "?". C'est interessant!

So how do you make those euro symbols?

My computer shows a little square when I tried what you described.
Sue Mar 19th, 2002 04:36 AM

On my pc, I hold down ALT key while punching, in turn, 0 1 2 8 on keypad to right of "regular" keyboard--not the numbers above the letters--then release ALT. Works on mine; anyone else?

But dioes it work here on this forum? I have yet to create a euro symbol - - or even see one here created by someone else. I see them on other web sites.
Sue Mar 19th, 2002 06:32 AM

No, it doesn't work on this forum; it appears as a "?".
