Suggestions for restaurants in Paris for $100 for two?

Does anyone have names of their favorite restaurants where two can eat for under $100? My husband and I have a budget of about $1000. to spend on lunch and dinner for a week in Paris. Is this possible?

elaine Feb 15th, 2005 03:00 PM

No, it's not possible, but thanks for asking.

MrsPNelson Feb 15th, 2005 03:08 PM

Really, Elaine? That would be about 80 euro for two for dinner. Surely, there must be some decent places to have dinner within this price range.

jsmith Feb 15th, 2005 03:44 PM

MrsP, we would have no trouble having excellent meals on your budget. In November, we had 3 course dinners for 2 with full bottles of wine for $80 and less. Without wine the dinners are about 20 Euros each, not much different than we spend in central Mass.

We stay in the 14th, rarely hear English spoken and they are small restaurants where the natives eat. The seating ranges from 15 to 30.

The hotel staffs where we've stayed have given excellent recommendations and others we have found while walking around and studying the clientele and the menu.

A couple of my favorites and what two of us spent this past summer including a bottle of nice wine and an extra tip (in euro -- you do the math):

Le Petite Prince (5th): 81 euro
Astier: 73.50 euro
Aux Charpentiers (6th) (twice):74.60 and 82.50 euro
Le Temps Perdu (6th): 60.75 euro
Chez Jenny at Republique: 51.90
Reine Blance (Ile St. Louis): 59.80
Le Petite Cour 6th: 96.00 splurge wine.

Elaine,

your expertise in detecting multiple screen names astounds me. I had no clue that this innocent sounding posting was not. Even the usually alert Patrick missed this one...how did you do it?

Patrick Feb 15th, 2005 05:22 PM

Are you kidding me? I missed this one entirely. Then clicked on the name and see the usual signs in all the posts. I'm sure Elaine is right. She has troll radar.

MrsPNelson Feb 15th, 2005 05:25 PM

Patrick, thank you for those suggestions. I was sort of under the impression that our budget would be enough money for the week. Actually, I believe that we can eat quite well on $1000. for the week. Can't wait to go.

MrsPNelson Feb 15th, 2005 05:32 PM

Elaine, I am totally baffled by your accusations. Infact, you seem to be obssessed with the subject. Which makes me wonder about you. How does anyone know whether you don't have a few aliases yourself and that you are having a fun time fooling the rest of us? Are you this Nanny Anny, Queriwhatever? A most likely scenario, I would say. I just joined this forum yesterday but I am not about to accept your flase accusations, thank you very much. I took the time and read your posts and you seem to well versed in trollism. You are bringing some suscpicious light onto yourself!

StCirq Feb 15th, 2005 05:42 PM

Yes, MrsNelson. I actually have compiled a list of such restaurants, gleaned in more than 65 trips to Paris.

Unfortunately for you, I'm not sharing it with people who live under bridges.

Sorry;)

Patrick/LaidBack, etc.: It was immediately apparent in an earlier thread on breakfast in Italy.

MrsPNelson Feb 15th, 2005 05:47 PM

That's fine StCirq, I don't really need any suggestions from you! 65 times to Paris? Now was that Paris, Texas?

elaine Feb 15th, 2005 05:53 PM

Hi StCirq
thanks for chiming in.
I would cut back on my 'flase accusations' but I don't know what a flase is.
:)

MrsPNelson Feb 15th, 2005 05:57 PM

That was a simple typo, Nanny Anny, oops, I mean Elaine. Not sure what to call you anymore. You do go by so many lovely names, don't you!

elaine Feb 15th, 2005 06:04 PM

still going to Paris with hubby, dear?

MrsPNelson Feb 15th, 2005 06:11 PM

Nanny, yes I am. NannyElaine, I could care less that you are a troll. But why do you have to be such a mean one? Life is too short to be so sharp tounged and mean spirited. If you are going to be a troll then why not be a nice one then?

StCirq Feb 15th, 2005 06:47 PM

MrsNelson: I'm really quite thrilled that you don't need suggestions from me, as I am not going to offer any. I'm sure you'll get plenty of ideas from people who don't recognize you as NellyAnne/etc/bla bla bla - the troll who is out to get elaine for some completely of the wall reason.
What IS it about elaine that gets to you so deeply? As far as I can see she is a decent human being who knows a LOT about Paris as well as other places, and shares willingly and generously and intelligently. What could you possibly have a problem with that? Oh! maybe I've answered my own question - maybe you can't answer any question on the Fodor's Europe Board because you haven't traveled anywhere and don't know anything. Just a passing thought.

Your countless stupid puerile posts under various similar nicknames are just so tiresome it's unbelievable. I hope the Fodor's editors "dip" you before you can change to yet another screen name.

MrsPNelson Feb 16th, 2005 02:33 AM

St Cirq, I do not care for any imput from someone as pretentious as you! Open your eyes, Cirq, Elaine has various names and she is pulling the wool over your eyes or are you too naive to realize that? Read her comments on trolls. It' very interesting and it seems that she has some "inside scoop". It's actually pretty obvious to me and I have only been on this forum for 3 days. So unless you two are in cahoots, there is no need to take on such a nasty tone with me.

elaine Feb 16th, 2005 04:15 AM

although these postings remain, the name is no longer registered, or something, nothing happened when I just clicked on it.

111op Feb 16th, 2005 04:40 AM

I clicked on the name also out of curiosity. How do these names become "deregistered"?
