Ctrl + F should do the trick. I have IE 6.0 and it works for me. I used to do technical customer support and have had to give my dad many tutorials on keystroke combinations, so I'll try explaining this way:
Hold down the CTRL key and while you are holding it down, click on the F key. You should get a Find pop-up window. If that doesn't work, use the Edit menu and choose Find as a previous poster suggested.

WOW IRA ..that is great!

Clifton, that was great!

I have a Mac, and open-apple F works the FIND function fine. Thanks, Capo, for the tip!

Maitaitom

You mean we aren't getting paid for this?

dln Aug 4th, 2003 07:43 PM

Not only are we not getting paid, Calamari, but we didn't even get a prize for registering, as did the first 100. Damn! I heard great Fodor's magnet stories on another post.

Personally, I'm still bitter about not getting one of the initial registration prizes. :-((

I've just spent seven days taking a techno course for educators, and your tip about ctrl + F is more fun! Is there a web page which lists more combos like that? Or are you going to tell me I should read that zillion page booklet that came with the pc? Thanks all, J.

Ohy how awful - - the thought of (an educator) having to read!

But it's not a zillion pages, nor even a million, nor probably even a thousand. You could learn a lot about your browser in under 15 minutes by simply taking a look at the "commmands" (pull-down menus) at the top of your browser - - they probably start out File Edit View etc (no doubt they look different in different browsers).

As was mentioned above, "Find on page..." is under that second one, "Edit". And it says right there "Ctrl-fF". Go exploring "in" your browser, as you would go exploring in any new "place" and it's all there for you to find.

In English - - (or many times you could get it in another language, if you go looking for that!- - in a small number of words.

I know this is smart-alecky, but if they didn't teach you in your seven-day course to just click here and there and see what choices your browser (or any other software you use) offers, then you might want to ask for your money back!

Best wishes,

Rex

maitaitom: I think your prohibition on talking about men's swimwear is unfair! Do only men get to ogle and leer and see the opposite gender as sex objects? We shun racism and ethnocentrism on this board--we must shun sexism too! I demand credit for my swimwear posts! >:o

"I think your prohibition on talking about men's swimwear is unfair! "

I defer to you. If you want to talk about fat guys in speedos, you've got the sand (er floor) and a can get a point toward the free drink coupons.

Yay! *hugs*

I was thinking more of the Johnny Depp/Brad Pitt types though, not Degas and his buddies! ;)
