When I was in Scotland, I fled the sound of bagpipes in Edinburgh, despite my genetic makeup (25 percent Scottish, 75 percent Irish). Don't care for military music or fireworks anywhere. But Scotland is a beautiful, beautiful country in many, many places, with a wonderful intellectual and arts heritage.

Spain is much
more interesting, but in August Scotland makes sense.
