Priceline question - i looked at it and i see that i choose my area - victoria or westminster - i choose number of stars and my price.. i get that - i assume then hotel choices come up that i make my final choice on - is that correct?? well of course if thats is how it works i have no problem with that - but is it likely that i can get a three star - with my own bath in victoria for $60 - $80 per night???

"<i>i assume then hotel choices come up that i make my final choice on - is that correct?? </i>"
no - that isn't how it works. Assuming you are talking about the "Name your own price" option - which is the only way that really matter here. You do not get a list to choose from. You decide how much you want to bid, in which area, for what star level. And IF the bid is accepted, the $ is immediately charged to your credit card and then you learn which hotel you got. That is why it is so important to study those other sites before bidding. It is a bit of a crap shoot - BUT assuming you do your homework and pick the right zone(s) no 3 or 4 star PL hotel will be unacceptable. You will not get near a 3 star for $60 w/o using PL or perhaps Hotwire which uses a similar but slightly different system. You could get a 1 or 2 star and possibly a private bath for $60-ish. |
Okay - Priceline - yes the name my own price option - choosing Victoria or Wesminster - 3 star for $70 a night will get me a clean safe room with my own bathroom. Yes the crap shoot I understand but for the price and location and what we what we arent choosey!!!
thanks sooo much!! please keep the advice coming - love it!!! |
Oh - just noticed the end of my last post wasn't clear.
I meant "Without using priceline - you could probably get a 1 or 2 star and possibly a private bath for $60-ish." Your trip isn't until March so what I would do is start out w/ lowball bids. You might get lucky, but you will have plenty of time to re-bid higher later on if need be. You also might want to go ahead and book a hotel that fits in your budget but that has a liberal cancellation policy. That way you have a cheap/basic room but can cancel the booking when/if you are successful on PL. |
