Thanks fo much for the suggestions. We're still not 100% sure of what to do. We've now thought about staying a couple of nights at Versailles and then trying for a 5 star on Priceline for Paris. I know I sound like a scrooge, but we're trying to get the best trip for our money. My new concern now is that if we bid the rooms on Priceline, we will probably only get one bed in each room, which is fine. But, we'd need a rollaway, and I don't mind paying, but I'm wondering if it would be worth it....Appreciate any feedback.k

If you are lucky enough to get the Hotel Scribe as your 5* Priceline hotel in Paris, apparently the standard rooms have a double bed plus a twin-size sofabed. However, if you got the Prince de Galles 5* hotel on Priceline, I think you might have a much harder time with the extra bed issue, and I have no idea if you could resolve it satisfactorily. Plus, some reviewers on Flyertalk have complained about the standard rooms at Prince de Galles ( I have no idea if those are valid). In any event, I'd so much prefer a convenient location to 5* luxury, but I know everyone has different priorities. If you have that budget to work with, you could find some very satisfactory lesser-star options that will for sure fit your family.

Instead of staying at the Trianon Palace might I suggest the Queen's Hamlet? It has lovely grounds, very quiet village atmosphere, and I think your children would enjoy it as did Marie and her children. I'm sure you each could have your own cottage.(lol Sorry, couldn't resist - when I first read this thread I thought it was a joke - someone actually wanting to say the Versailles Palace.) Well, seriously, the hamlet was my favorite area of the Versailles grounds. The grounds are very large and I think the next time I go, I might like to rent a bicycle to get around and see all the buildings.
