St. Remy and Beaune
 

We will be in St. Remy and surroundings as well as Beaune for approx. 12 days in October. We love good food but will not be bringing any clothing other than jeans and nice shirts or sweaters. We are not really interested in dining at the Michellin star places at least not every night , but cozy bistros and intersting places with good, fresh food and a nice atmosphere. Is this possible in these locations? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Haven't been to St Remy and the only place we ate dinner out in Beaune was

- it was good, nothing 'wow' special, but worth its price, and we sat on the terrace and enjoyed it.. I'd go there again if we ever returned to Beaune.

On another forum a traveler posted pix of the food and the restaurant for a place in Beaune called Ma Cuisine that looked nice. You can have a look at the Beaune tourist office website to read up on the 100 or so places you can eat in town.

Beaune is a small place, and almost anywhere you go will accept you.

it has everything you describe!!

Fantastic food, fantastic staff, fantastic lfriendsly and "laid-back" atmosphere.--and we, the only "non-lcals" felt totally comfortable in jeans.

it was our favorite meal in France...and much better that the assorted well-knwon bistros we treid, like Bistro des Alpillse and Bistro Decouverte.

We stayed in Beaune for a week in May. If you are looking for fine dining (but not starred) I think your apparel would be fine at Ma Cuisine (advance reservations necessary) and La Maison d'Olivier Leflaive in Puligny Montrachet for their fantastic (and pricey) 3 hr. lunch. There are many places in the village. We found that restaurants are more relaxed than those in Paris and far more friendly. And most importantly, the food is FAR better!

My husband and I appreciate good fresh food but we are not looking to spend 100.00 or more for dinner and wine. Can anyone suggest interesting places that are approx. 60.00 to 70.00 dollars that includes wine?

We are not cheap, but we love appetizers, pizza, uncomplicated food.
