A friend told me to eat in a place called Spaten Haus in Minich. Has anyone ever eaten there? What is on their menu?

Yes, I've eaten there, and it was GREAT!! What was on the menu? -- Great German food, cold beer, and if it's a nice day, a nice seating area out front. ((b))

I have eaten at the Augustiner and Hoffbrau Haus and have enjoyed Spaten Beer but I am not familiar with their restaurant. Where is it? I will be in Munich next week, perhaps we can find a new favorite but it will really have to go some to beat out the Augustiner and the Andechs Am Dom.

I remember the restaurant was packed, and they sat us at a table for 6 with 2 other couples already half-way into their meal. They do that in Germany, and I don't really mind. One couple spoke a little English and helped us with the menu -- it was a fun experience. ((b))

those wings of hare are so delicious. I guess it's because they fly so much that they just don't get fat... ;-)

It's nice to hear that someone was able to assist with the menu. But as I seem to recall from about 6 months ago, they also had an English language menu available!

On a trip to Munich a number of years ago, one of the things - foodwise - that I remember & really liked & still would like to go back for is the sparfarkel (sp??) the white asparagus, especially in soup. It was excellent, tasty & tender. I enjoyed all German food, but especially that, but also had to have a pretzel with any type of fantastic German mustard just about every place I went. (Or maybe it was just the beer that made the mustard taste so good.) Spaetzel (sp?) was also a favorite to have with the meal. Shouldn't have started talking about this, making me hungry for those foods. Guess I will have to start planning a trip back there to satisfy my yearning.

a pretzel with mustard is certainly a new invention - why do my taste buds shiver just at the thought of it?
