Maribel, Thanks for the new Wines From Spain link. I have the old one and really wanted the new. Txakoli in Seattle? I'll be out there this Summer and would love the address of Txori. Total Wine here in Florida didn't have anything in the Whites that were outstanding.

Maribel, Found it! I'm really angry you didn't let me know it was a take on San Sebastian's Pincho's. You know I loved that town! LOL. Hope Julie has a chance to visit there.

Great info! I am in the beginning stages of planning a 3 day trip to the Ribera del Duero region. Thinking of renting a house outside of Segovia...is that a good area for exploration?

The area to the northeast of Segovia (capital) in the Segovia province is a wonderful area to explore.

We have based both in Pedraza and also near Sepúlveda around the Hoces del Duratón Nature Park and its stunning gorge.
From our base there, we've driven to Peñafiel to the castle and wine museum, and we've done the "castle route", which is quite interesting.

The "golden mile" though, of the Ribera del Duero wineries does lie around the
N 122 from Peñafiel to Quintanilla de Onésimo with Valbuena de Duero and Pesquera de Duero above.

peyton,
If you read some Spanish, here is a list of all the visitable wineries around Peñafiel and in the Valladolid province-

Maribel-
Thanks so much for bringing this post to my attention. I must have missed it when planning my trip last fall but will use it for my trip in September.

Do you know the status of the hotel and wine therapy spa at Heredad Ugarte? I checked their website and didn't find anything. We're looking for a nice place for a spa visit and this might be an alternative (if it is open) to the Marques de Riscal.

We also don't want to miss a txakoli bodega visit this year so I'll use your above recommendations.
