Southern New Englanders GTG

Any interest in arranging a get together in the Boston area after the holidays? Date, location and time needs to be determined.

As a suggestion, there's a wonderful Italian restaurant in the Theatre District, across from the Transportation Building, that has private rooms available at no additional charge. All you can eat, 4-course, family style platters cost $13-$17 per person. I only suggest this, because the restaurant is easy to find, there's plenty of parking in the area on weekends, and it's easily accessible to those of you that need to use public transportation.

Leslie, Count me in! Think it's a great idea!

Annie Dec 19th, 2001 05:12 AM

you should post this on the US forum too

Hi Leslie

Merry Xmas!

How did your move to the West Coast go? Hope you are settling in OK?

Have a wonderful Xmas back in New England...

Kavey

Leslie: Maybe you could join one of the west coast GTGs. I'm sure it will be hard for you to schedule a time to meet in Boston with everyone else if you're only back in New England for very brief visits with family. The west coast group is pretty active with GTGs.

California dreamin' Dec 19th, 2001 07:00 AM

Wow, I shouldn't just assume you're in California! Where on the west coast did you move to? The northwest (Seattle/Portland) people have Fodors GTGs, too.)

clever Dec 19th, 2001 07:42 AM

Leslie, where in New England do you live????

ohboy Dec 19th, 2001 08:22 AM

So, leslie, are you planning a New England get-together or not? You people have really confused me...

www Dec 19th, 2001 08:26 AM

Since you're eager to organize, why not start another west coast GTG for all your "new neighbors" out here, how about it? Prefer not to post with e-mail addy on fodors, but will write to an e-mail addy that braver sould post here. But maybe should start a new thread for west coast.

Abar Dec 19th, 2001 09:36 AM

Would someone mind telling me exactly what the heck is going on here? And where?

California dreamin' Dec 19th, 2001 09:38 AM

So, what's up, do you want to start a west coast GTG and get to know the new gang or just want to time a Boston GTG so it fits in with rare and brief visits to your old home turf?

xxx Dec 19th, 2001 10:10 AM

To clarify: Leslie used to live in the New England area, but earlier this year she moved to the West Coast. The assumption is that she's posting about the NE GTG because she's coming back to the East Coast to visit friends and family and then will return to the West Coast.

Leslie -- it looks like you've gotten interest in GTGs on both coasts!

youth wants Dec 19th, 2001 11:28 AM

What's with all the secretcy about where you live???And you expect me to answer someone so vague?

Joanne Dec 19th, 2001 11:29 AM

Please count me in on the Boston GTG. Thanks!

oldster Dec 19th, 2001 11:33 AM

Youth: Maybe she just hasn't had a chance to get back online today. I'm sure if she wants to meet with the people inher new home area she's mention which area of the Pacific coastline she lives in!

OLD FRIEND! Dec 19th, 2001 04:16 PM

Leslie! This is your old friend from Maine! Remember all the great times we would have together running through our mansions, letting the staff race after us? Oh, what grand times! Do you recall the coming out ball we had when we were 16? The boys sure followed you around! How is ole mummy and daddy? Still raking in the millions?
Oh, there is so much to tell about you!
So much that I would like to tell....
Leslie Dec 19th, 2001 04:51 PM

I believe that there may be some confusion here because I have not spoken to Kavey and her Chai-Coffee Club cronies since September.

To clarify, I live just west of Boston, in Massachusetts, on the east coast. I even have a view of the Atlantic Ocean from my office. I was being transferred to the west coast the first of the year, however, due to the current economic conditions, I have decided to stay put in Boston, close to my family, and where I have a secure and stable position (well, today it is). I'm an east coast gal, and don't know if I can get used to a new lifestyle on the west coast, although it does sound tempting. Besides, what would I do without the Big Dig, Massachusetts politics (Acting Governor Jane Swift has got to go), snow and blizzards? And even more importantly, the airfares to Europe are much cheaper departing from Boston.

So, getting back to planning a GTG in the Boston area after the holidays and before I go to Budapest on vacation in March ...

Anon. for now Dec 19th, 2001 06:59 PM

I'm glad you were able to stay in Boston after all, since you obviously have strong ties in New England. It's also nice to have a trip to Budapest to look forward to, and I'd like to see Hungary myself some day. We actually do wish you the best, despite the excessive teasing. (I certainly hope "old friend" isn't anyone I know!)

anon. for now Dec 19th, 2001 07:22 PM

It's about a proposed Fodors GTG in Boston. Ignore the rest. (If you don't, you are the problem.)

sharona Dec 19th, 2001 07:54 PM

Hi Leslie. Please count me in as interested in a Boston area get together. As suggested earlier you may want to post on the US and Caribbean forums as well.
