Maybe I made a mousetake and this is redundant but...we are meeting friends in Nice and wat to see Monaco, the coast and Provence. Should we base ourselves in one place and day trip or move from hotel to hotel? Thanks!

When are you going, for how long, mode of transport, how many people in the party?

Sorry to be so vague! May 19-24, our friends have a car. We leave for home from Nice on the 24th. Hotel budget about 300USD.Thanks!

Given that the Cannes Film Festival will be in full swing (May 11-22) for around the time of your visit, I would plan accordingly. I would try to stay in Nice as homebase for Monaco and the coast, avoid using car at all cost using bus/train instead. Then I would move inland to visit Provence. Two hotels max.
