Sorrento to Positano
Can someone tell me if there is a ferry from Sorrento to Positano, and if that is the best way to get there. There will be 4 of us and I am wondering if a car service would be faster? Thanks

Yes, there are ferries from Sorrento to Positano.
It may be faster but taking the ferry is much nicer. Beautiful views along the way and the approach into Positano by boat is magical. Also, the drive from Sorrento to Positano, while beautiful itself, is full of hair-pin turns. If anyone in your group gets the least bit motionsick, they will not be feeling well once you get there unless they take medicine beforehand. However, traveling by ferry, the wind is cool and blowing in your face. I get motionsick but traveling by boat in that area didn't give me any problems. |
Thank you! I would love to do the ferry, do you have any idea how frequently they travel? I checked the website, but I find it difficult to figure out the time table. Thanks again

If I remember correctly, there are not a lot of ferries going to Positano - maybe three or four a day. You'll probably need to head down to the docks early and plan on spending the day on this excursion. It's not a short trip (1 1/2 hours maybe?). We did the reverse trip last summer (P to S for the day) so I can't remember the exact times). It's a great trip!

On metrodelmare.com be sure to click on English, timetables and then MM3. This will show all the departure/arrival times for that route.

We did this trip by ferry last summer ( July). There are several ferries available from Sorrento to Positano each day in the summer season. Trip time is about 40 minutes.
