Hi Cat,
I believe the street is Rue de Nevers ... it runs up from the Quai right next to Pont Neuf. Regards, JB |

I can't get them to open. Turned off my popup blocker but no luck. Have to sneak a peek at work.

Thanks, Breadman for the name rue de Nevers. I have it on my list for next trip, hopefully in '06.
Also saw in another post about your metro/RER mishap. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. No matter how much you research ahead of time (and I did, for months and months), things STILL happen that make you feel stupid. That first trip is really a learning experience, though. It's a good way to get all the kinks out and ensure that you won't make the same mistake a second time (hopefully) At least I HOPE I won't get on the wrong train to Versailles again! :) |
Bread *one of my favorite groups long ago.
You remind me how great black and white can be next to color that can be cosmetic. |
Great pics! Thanks for sharing! :)

Breadman,
Great photos. We have never been in Paris in the winter but may try that next year when I plan to retire. Shots at Notre Dame are awesome. Thanks for sharing. Anthony |
Excellent! I feel like doing the same with mine about Dijon! :-)
:-B Just a précision about the memorial, "gardien de la paix" is a policeman not a resistant (but he could have been both maybe..)René Revel was working in the 15th and died with 19 other policemen. "des policiers tués le 19 août lors des premiers combats autour de la Préfecture de Police : Boisson Raymond, Paillot Abel, Pierard Marcel, Maurizot Francis, Le Pape Marcel, Perrin André, Vallet René, Revel René" from here : http://mapage.noos.fr/liberation_de_paris/documents.htm :-) |
Nice shots, Breadman! :) I personally love black and whites pics.
|
Once again..does anyone know if the poster in photo #5 can be purchased somewhere? Thanks.
|
I think the poster is part of the promo of the book of the same name. Maybe the book publisher has it, or maybe your local bookstore can get one?
JB |
Thanks JB! I'll try that.
|
How lovely. I'd like to have #20 framed.
|
I would be curious to see the photos in their original color, because if they are like #22, the atmospheric element has not disappeared. I appreciate the color because it does not jump out as some do. My impression is that some images on other postings have colors that are simply too true.

Michael - this was a good exercise - see the last photo in the series - I added a side-by-side comparison composite .... what do you think?

great photos - you should sell them.
|
Breadman, obviously the BW has echos of past great photos of Paris, but the color one has its own atmospheric tone. As a matter of fact, I prefer the color one of St. Germain to the BW. Are you suggesting that you chose BW when you took the picture, rather than choosing it while editing?
|
I'll jump in. The color version IMO is quite nice. I agree with Michael that the bit of color you have is nice. Not too strong. But the B&W is still very interesting to me. Your photos are so good you can't go wrong :)
|
Thanks!
Michael, all the original images were color... But I did plan on making a lot of them B&W - it's just a personal preference. I don't know the bells and whistles on the camera well enough to switch around (quickly)from B&W to color. It's much easier after the fact! Keeps the options open... JB |
Beautiful photos. They carried me right out of my chair and I could feel the timelessness of Paris.
