Also saw in another post about your metro/RER mishap. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. No matter how much you research ahead of time (and I did, for months and months), things STILL happen that make you feel stupid. That first trip is really a learning experience, though. It's a good way to get all the kinks out and ensure that you won't make the same mistake a second time (hopefully) At least I HOPE I won't get on the wrong train to Versailles again! :)

I think the poster is part of the promo of the book of the same name. Maybe the book publisher has it, or maybe your local bookstore can get one?

I would be curious to see the photos in their original color, because if they are like #22, the atmospheric element has not disappeared. I appreciate the color because it does not jump out as some do. My impression is that some images on other postings have colors that are simply too true.

Michael - this was a good exercise - see the last photo in the series - I added a side-by-side comparison composite .... what do you think?

Breadman, obviously the BW has echos of past great photos of Paris, but the color one has its own atmospheric tone. As a matter of fact, I prefer the color one of St. Germain to the BW. Are you suggesting that you chose BW when you took the picture, rather than choosing it while editing?

I'll jump in. The color version IMO is quite nice. I agree with Michael that the bit of color you have is nice. Not too strong. But the B&W is still very interesting to me. Your photos are so good you can't go wrong :)

Michael, all the original images were color... But I did plan on making a lot of them B&W - it's just a personal preference. I don't know the bells and whistles on the camera well enough to switch around (quickly)from B&W to color. It's much easier after the fact! Keeps the options open...
