Sam if somone entitled a thread "racist atlanta" or "smelly atlanta" you would go ballistic. PC is just a term people like you create to enable you to be continue spreading your stereotyes, misconceptions and lies. You have ZERO original thought.

Anyway, you admit to bob you smell badly. And you seem obsessed with your olafactory glands. What a child!
Rhonda Apr 5th, 2002 06:47 PM

Yes--it is white peopkle in the south who have a history of racism and bigotry. So I guess you are right cowboy!!

Uncle Sam Apr 5th, 2002 06:50 PM

Rhonda darlin,

you get an "A" for effort, You cleaned up your mouth.

Now I do agree with you that the post should not have been written as "Smelly Venice".

There are some magnificent things about Venice such as Piaza San Marco, San Marco Cathedral, the Guggenheim, the Grand Canal etc...OTOH, let's be honest here.....in the Summer the canals can and do smell.

Now what is so difficult about being honest?

Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam Apr 5th, 2002 06:54 PM

Rhonda,

BTW, you don't by any chance have big hair, wear tons of makeup, crack and pop your chewing gum and live in New Jersey do you?

If you don't you should...you've got the mouth and the attitude!

Uncle Sam

Rhonda Apr 5th, 2002 06:55 PM

Well Sammy baby the initial complaint--if you are able to read it--was about the title of the post not the question--.

cowboy Apr 5th, 2002 06:57 PM

Sam, Venice is a wonderful city. I remember my first visit there in 1985. All of that oldness just blew me away, but I noticed the canals did have an odor to them. I remember hanging out iand enjoying the square the square. I also remember going over to the fisherman's island.

Why do the travel police get so bent when anyone points out anything that might be somewhat negative, but nonetheless true?

Uncle Sam Apr 5th, 2002 07:02 PM

Cowboy,

It definitely depends upon whose ox is being gored, now doesn't it.

It's quite Ok to call anyone that disagrees with the PC crowd an ugly American but tell them that the Venice canals can stink in the Summer....look out!

BTW, ever hear from momanem?

Rhonda Apr 5th, 2002 07:09 PM

Sam and Cowboy--I agree it depend on whose ox-but you are like the pc police for your causes. Clear cut hypocracy! I was there in April and smelled nothing. But even if I had, it would be the last thing to talk about, unless you are a whining crybaby. But to call a site "Smelly Venice" is just asking for trouble. I am sure that is what this was all about.

bettyk Apr 5th, 2002 07:17 PM

I'm sorry, but I cannot tell a lie. I thought the canals stunk too. This was late June, early July. It was also VERY crowded. I could not wait to leave. Beautiful city, but you could hardly tell with all the swarms of people about.

xxxx Apr 5th, 2002 07:34 PM

betty --you are another whiner from des moines! stay in your air-conditioned shopping center!

bettyk Apr 5th, 2002 07:52 PM

Not exactly, xxx. I lived in Vienna and England for over 3 years. And your experiences in Europe are???

Rhonda Apr 5th, 2002 07:52 PM

btw sam--i have been in Europe and Montreal and have blasted those people when they made nasty (and usually bogus) claims against Americans based upon broad generalizations, such as americans are stupid, they have no culture, etc. It is just not polite to do that--it is bad manners and shows arrogance. What you call "pc" ( a bogus term) has nothing to do with that, or with statements like "smelly Venice"...
