The winds are blowing hard all the way to Switzerland. Our roll down security blinds are rattling as I type.
I think several airports will have wind delays plus a knock on effect from the Paris airport closures. |
I feel bad for your cancellation but at least American called to let you know about the cancellation. As a nice ending to my Vienna vacation, Air France sent me an email about my Feb 10th,VIE, 7AM flight cancellation at 23:52 the night of the 9th. They had rescheduled me but I had no idea since the night before, checking my emails, at 8PM there was only a positive email about my future flight showing. What happened to Phone calls?!! Or at least a timely email. :( ...I checked into my flight after waiting through a lenghthy queu, told to go reschedule at the AF counter, then was sent scurrying to a flight booked for me on KLM that was leaving in only minutes away. Horrible morning! Thanks Air France!:((
And Pleeeeze... to the "know it alls" that will tell me I should have checked my emails before I left to go to the airport at 4:30 in the morning... |
Hijacking alert!
Take it easy. He's being a bit sarcastic. flanneruk - I always appreciate your snarky remarks. They're fun and I find myslef googling some of them. Please explain a "cat's chance in hell." I was trying to figure out why a cat would have less of a chance than.... a dog? a person? From where (whence?) does this expression come? Mom |
I am going to say that the "myth" that airlines cancel flights because they aren't "Full" has a HUGE whole. That plane may be EMPTY going to CDG and FULL coming back so it NEEDS to go to CDG. Contrary to myth airlines do not lightly cancel flights due to "light booking"
And as for "only about 70 seats booked" unless you have access to a travel agent booking system, you really don't know what's booked. |
Hi All-
We arrived safe and sound on a remarkably pleasant flight on AA from ORD to CDG. It was totally empty, maybe about 100 people. The AA ticket agent told me most people from the day before transferred to the United Flight, which was not cancelled only delayed. Sadly, it is not a myth that they cancel flights. I worked in aviation and have seen it happen before. In addition, I also commuted via air extensively (every week for 8 years straight)and became initimately familiar with the innner workings. It is rare and and indeed 'illegal', but it is not a myth as it has happened personally to me on a few occassions. At any rate, we're here and loving every minute of it! |
