Lighten up! <BR> <BR>Back to the post- we love flying and thankfully have not seen any plane rage but there have been some frightening incidents highlighted. There HAS to be a happy medium- I have frequently seen passengers having one drink after another and lets face it the stewardesses are the ones serving them. Perhaps they need help with more strict guidelines and the passengers sign a contract agreeing to what has been decided.

How has other people getting plastered before/while flying affected me? <BR> <BR>I have been on 2 flights where an intoxicated person was escorted off the plane before the flight took off because the flight attendants had decided they were unfit to fly. Needless to say we were delayed as their luggage needed to be off loaded as well. <BR> <BR>Over the weekend I was on a flight with a person who was so drunk (absolutely reeking with alcohol-so much so made me want to puke). While landing this person decided to fully recline his seat!! If something had happenend I would have been trapped in my seat, as well as the 2 others sitting next to me. Not to mention do you really want someone drunk blocking your way in the aisle in an emergency situation!

I agree about the changes that will be made after the first fatality. Unfortunately, if it involves a drunk breaking into a cockpit it will mean a lot more than just a few fatalities- it will be an entire plane. Unfortunately I can see that happening.

Disagreeable fellow travelers are a fact of life (drunk or not). I've had drunks fall nicely to sleep upon takeoff, and had sober persons blab loudly about meaningless junk for entire flights. I think the so-called drunks who attack waitresses or the cockpit have something more wrong with them, like untreated mental illness. Alcohol may be a contributing factor, but banning alcohol won't necessarily prevent future violence. What percentage of people drink on planes and, of those, what percentage become violent or unreasonable? I'm guessing the number is quite small. Please don't reign in my freedoms due to a microscopic number of imbiciles. There are already too many laws aimed at the few, at the cost of the many.

Somebody tell me of an airage incident which didn't involve drunks. <BR>Someone tell me of of a longrange flight where most of the toilet queue isn't caused by alcohol. <BR>Please remember that use of alcohol is banned by some major religions and that it's use is offensive to many people. <BR>Also that many flights give out "free" alcohol - ie the non-drinkers pay for it. <BR> Recently I was on a small plane which had to make a second landing approach beacause a drunk insisted he had to go for a pee during the approach & wasn't back in time.(can't land without everyone in their seats)The stewardess who asked him to hurry back was told to **** off. <BR>His drunken friends then began to verbally abuse her. <BR>Why should she have to put up with this? <BR>Come to think of it why should I? <BR> The only problem with banning alcohol would be policing it.Drinkers tend to behave like children when you try to prevent them drinking, they sneak booze into the toilet etc.(although they dont have a problem with it, no siree....) <BR>
