Secret Itineraries Tour - Help
I have tried the following phone number with only an Italian recording at the end 011-39-041-520-9070. We are headed to Venice on May 2 and want to schedule the tour. Can anyone offer any help?

Selectitaly charges 35 Euros and you also can tour the rest of the Doge's Palace after the secret itineraries tour. If you go to http://www.venice-museum.com/booking.htm the tickets are 16 Euros. Deb-I posted this before just recently, you can book the Secret Itineraries tour on-line at the official website for the Venice museums here:

Click on the link, and a pop-up will come on, to book your reservation, in English. Follow instructions from there-it works just fine, I've used this service 2 or 3 times. There is NO charge for booking on-line. |

We had our hotel make our reservations for us. I bet your hotel would be glad to help you too.

Why ask a hotel to do it, when you get instant confirmation by doing it yourself on-line? There's nothing difficult about it.

bookmarking and asking a question: anyone know the maximum for how far ahead of time the secret itinerary tour ca be booked? And also, what qualifies you for that discounted fare?

If you click on the second link I provided in the post above, and then click on the right arrow by "Maggio" (May) it shows that you can book the Secret Itineraries Tour all the way through June, but no further, indicating that the Tour can be booked three months in advance.
Being a senior or a student qualifies you for a discount, at a minimum (I believe city residents get this tour for free as well, but if not, they will pay a very reduced price). |
This afternoon I THOUGHT I had booked the Secret Itineraries Tour for May 19 when we will be in Venice. I gave them all my cfedit card information, but then I got an error message! Then I received an email from them ALL IN ITALIAN! I immediately emailed them back as I am not sure if I have a reservation or not because of the ERROR MESSAGE. What should I do now?? Her is a copy of the email I received back:

You have booked. I've checked the e-mails I got when I booked - I got one like that (the receipt) straightaway and the confirmation (with date & time etc) 2 days later.

Thanks for helping decipher the Italian email for me. I do think that I "goofed" whwen I paid because there were several choices and I picked Itinerari Segreti Rid. for 10 Eur. (2 tickets). Another choice was Intinerari Segreti Int. for 16 Eur. I could not figure out what those abbreviatins meant (even on an Italian to English translation site) and I think I picked the wrong one. Will they just let us pay the difference when we get there? Thanks as I am still hoping this all "works" for us!

I checked my e-mails again and when we went 2 years ago it was €15 each. I can't think what "Rid" and "Int" could mean; however...
I have the following :- "Date and time in Italy : 01/06/2005 13:38:14 Total amount EUR : 30,00 Merchant transaction ID : 313635 Description : 2 biglietto/i per: Itinerari segreti: visite guidate in inglese" Where you have the following :- "Date and time in Italy : 11/04/2007 22:46:42 Total amount EUR : 20,00 Merchant transaction ID : 552332 Description : 2 biglietto/i per: Palazzo Ducale di Venezia - Itinerari segreti" So I think you've booked a tour in Italian (no "in inglese"). See what it says when the confirmation arrives - but if so you'll need to change it as the tours will be at different times. |

I think you did choose the wrong tickets, but I don't think it will be an issue because it looks to me like your transaction did not go through. I say this because I tried twice to book through that site (but at the full 16 Euro price) and got the same message you did containing the phrase ERRORE FORMATO MESSAGGIO (looks a lot like error) and never received a confirmation email. I was also never charged. My mother used the same site to make reservations for the Correr and received a message that said TRANSAZIONE AUTORIZZATA...... (which looks like authorized) where ours said ERRORE and she received the subsequent confirmation email and was charged. I was able to make reservations earlier this week using the phone number at the beginning of this thread through an English speaking operator with no problems. Our tour is for May 18. If you haven't received the confirmation email yet, you might want to go ahead and try that to make sure you have a reservation. Using the phone number, they only took my name and gave me a booking confirmation code. We will pay when we pick up the tickets 30 minutes before our tour. Lisa |

"Rid" means "ridotto" or reduced in English-so yes, you did choose the wrong ticket, as you have to fit within the reduced categories-but you can clear that up once you get to Venice by just going over to the booking office inside the entrance of the Palazzo Ducale. They had me double-booked once,and then they cleared it up when I got there. You have your ID code at the bottom of the transaction, which is what you need.
It does appear that you booked in Italian, however, you can clear that up when you get there as well. TRANSAZIONE AUTORIZZATA-means "authorized transaction" |
I hope my post wasn't too confusing. My message regarding the secret itineraries tour, like lambs, did not say the transaction was authorized. It said there was a formatting error. I don't think I ever successfully booked through the website.

I have also tried booking through the Venice Museum site, and also received the 'ERRORE FORMATO MESSAGGIO' error message -- this was several days ago. My cc has not yet been charged, and I haven't received any other e-mails for confirmation.
My question is, what does the 'format error' mean? The systems geek in me assumes that there was something the website didn't like about the way I keyed in my cc number (or something else). |
My credit card has not been charged either and I, supposedly, booked 6 days ago. Not sure what to do from this point to sort it all out. It bothers me that I gave that website my credit card information, yet have no real confirmation (especially since when booking I accidentally clicked the RID tickets (which I learned here means reduced rate-for which I don't qualify).

Lambs-I've had that happen to me, I actually had a double booking for the SI tour, and they sorted it out for me once I got there. If I were you, I might try giving it a go on the website once again, now that you know which ticket price to use, and see if it goes through-your credit card hasn't been charged on the previous transaction, so there's no harm there-and if there is a double-booking, you can bring your other ID # to have them sort it out.
