Schengen Visa Requirements

Just got back from the Netherlands embassy in LA(Schengen visa). Thought I'll just give out a few tips coz the website is not adequate.

Most European consulates in LA are in the same building (11766 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025). The Netherlands embassy is open from 9:30-12 pm and is usually not crowded (I was the only person there!). The process takes approx 10 business days, but they speeden the process if requested (if you are leaving earlier). Check here for requirements: http://www.ncla.org/article.asp?articleref=AR00000396EN

Important tips not on website:
1. Photograph needs to be on light background without any shadows (especially watch out for shadow beneath the ear). Alternatively, the building has a shop at the ground level which is very efficient.
2. You WILL need visa for any other countries you plan to enter before!
3. Documents needed (passport,

oops!! continuing..

3. Documents needed (passport, Green card, two photographs, sufficient funds, itirenary, health insurance (atleast $37,500 coverage), CASH/MONEY ORDER for $43(cheques not accepted).

4. Parking is behind the building and if you use the photostore, you can get the pass validated.

If you guys have more questions...shoot!

I gather that you plan to stay in Europe for more than three months? Otherwise, why go through the trouble of getting a visa?

I'm guessing the poster isn't a US citizen? I see another post which indicates a short trip to The Netherlands, so I'm not sure what this is about.

I am only guessing but I am assuming that mc_ite is not a citizen of either the US or any of the European countries that are part of the European Union.
