Sad news from cigalechanta

Mimi has asked me to let all her friends here know that her husband was just diagnosed with cancer. She will be very grateful for prayers and good wishes.

Viajero2 Jun 23rd, 2006 01:30 PM

Will do. Please pass along wishes for strength in this difficult time.

Tiff Jun 23rd, 2006 01:32 PM

Oh dear Mimi ~ Please know we knew 'one' of us per Scarlett was going through a rough time and not until today were we aware that it was you and your dear DH. Please know that you have been in our thoughts and many prayers have been said, and will continue to be said.

May you gain strength from those who love you! Tiff

Mimi,
You have brightened so many people's day on so many forums. At a time like this, with what you are going through I wish there was some way we could return the favor. Take comfort in the knowledge that a broad spectrum of people from many countries are thinking kind thoughts for you and your husband.

Gardyloo Jun 23rd, 2006 02:01 PM

Blessings and prayers, kiddo.

justretired Jun 23rd, 2006 02:05 PM

Mimi,

So sorry to hear about your husband. As someone who has survived cancer twice (21 years plus another scare last summer), I know first hand the angst of diagnosis and treatment. Hope that he heals quickly and that you may enjoy years of beloved France together.

With best wishes,
Margie (and Larry) Krakauer

Mimi, as I told Scarlett about you just the other day, the person we choose to love is so much a part of the person we become that I know your husband must be a very dear man indeed.

I've been sending my thoughts to embrace you in a gentle hug, to right you when you stumble, and to acknowledge in the night your unspoken fears.

The countless many of us who have been the recipients of your kindness now send that all goodness back to you, in the hope that it will bring your husband strength, and calm, if only for a moment, your worried heart.

Treesa Jun 23rd, 2006 02:06 PM

Mimi:

I'm sending my prayers to you and your family. Please take care of yourself.

Mimi, I am so sorry to hear this news. You and your husband are in our thoughts.

kopp Jun 23rd, 2006 02:11 PM

Dear cigalechanta,

I cannot imagine how frightened and anxious you are at this moment. To hear the word "cancer" from a doctor must be devastating. I will pray for strength for you both and also for the doctors to find just the right methods to treat this illness.

Blessings to you both.

gabrieltraian Jun 23rd, 2006 02:14 PM

Mimi,

I haven't known you other than from your postings here, which I've appreciated.

I know this is a tough time for you, 'cause I've been through something similar myself.

I wish you to be strong and don't give up. Good things can still happen at any time.

Gabriel

Hi, Mimi.
We haven't yet had a chance to meet up at Brasserie Jo--I was hoping to contact you once school was over and I had a chance to catch my breath. My wife is a cancer survivor; let me know if we can be of help.

Prayers and best wishes,

letour

Dear Mimi,

I too am new here, but I grieve for anyone who gets this devastating news. I know all too well how quickly it can turn your lives upside down. But there are good treatments available for most kinds of cancer, and many of us here are testimonials to that.

Your calm strength and reassurance can be a great help to him. I join the others here in sending prayers for both of you.

Please convey to Mimi my best wishes for strength and comfort for both her and her husband and my hopes that this will be a manageable sort of cancer. (I will write to her myself later because I'm not really big on posting very personal stuff on public internet boards.)

dancintomusic Jun 23rd, 2006 02:52 PM

I'm so sorry your husband and you are going through this. He needs your strength right now, Mimi, but he is going to pull through this, you'll see. Please know that you and he are in my thoughts and prayers. If there is anything at all I can do, please let me know.

Weadles Jun 23rd, 2006 03:01 PM

Cigalechanta,

My heart breaks for you as I have some idea what you're going through right now. It was a year ago tomorrow that my husband was diagnosed. I will be praying very hard that a year from now things look as much brighter for the two of you as they do for us right now.

Dejais Jun 23rd, 2006 03:43 PM

PLease let Mimi know our prayers and good wishes go out to her and her husband. May God look over you and give you both strength during this difficult time.

Marianna Jun 23rd, 2006 03:45 PM

I have been in contact with Mimi and we are all hoping for the best of outcomes for her husband.

Mimi and Jerry, we are all thinking of you.

hester Jun 23rd, 2006 03:47 PM

Cigalechanta,
I have also always enjoyed your posts. Both your husband and you are in my prayers.

JeanneB Jun 23rd, 2006 03:50 PM

Oh, Mimi. I wish I could bring over a casserole or cake or something! But the best I can do in this cyberworld is to send prayers and best wishes for your family.

We've just gone through 8 dark months with a family member who was diagnosed last fall. It takes all your faith and strength. Stay strong and don't ever worry that friends are "doing too much". Believe me, they always wish they could do more.

Jeanne

PS: It is encouraging to read all the cancer survivor comments.

loisco Jun 23rd, 2006 03:50 PM

Oh Mimi...I am so sorry to hear about this. My dear sister was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, and she is doing fine, so I wish that for you and your husband too.

Sending good thoughts your way...
