Ryanair are notoriously strict on their baggage policy - if you're over the limit, they'll make you pay (and it's pretty hefty, too.) If Fodors have indexed them, there's a lot of moans on this board from people caught out by this - but as Rex points out, Americans "doing Europe" isn't really the main marketing aim of Ryanair - it's aimed at those of us luck enough to live close to one of their airports who want to go abroad for a few nights.

This euro symbol thing really has me confused. Does this work:

?

I see it correctly displayed on my screen now - - thanks to finally finding and downloading the patch to Windows 95 - - hats off to Daniel.

If it works (and even if it doesn't HERE on this forum), I will start a new thread, and explain how that came to pass - - it will at least benefit others looking at websites that ARE capable of displaying the euro symbol correctly (like the ryanair webpage - - and countless others, no doubt).
Okay, so this must have been a source of driving people crazy to not even understand what this dialogue has been about. The problem has to be on Fodor's end. I even plan to do a screen capture with this symbol ? (alt-0128) and post it at www.rexbickers.italy.com/eurosymbol.jpg

To illustrate that it IS visible when you try to post it!

And I'll post more about my experience finding and installing the Microsoft patch, etc. in a little bit (as well as move this to a new thread).
Well, well, well... the explanation is going to be a bit of a fizzle. Today, I can access this page just fine

http://www.microsoft.com/typography/faq/faq12.htm

just as Daniel suggested. I might have given up on it if he had not suggested searching with google, but - - bottom line is - - right now, you don't have to do anything fancier than go to this URL just like he said.

And once there you will be directed to

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/euro.asp

again... just like he said.

where another link re-directs you to...

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/euro.asp#win95

(Daniel could not have known that I needed this page specifically)

which in turn takes you to this download link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/contents/WURecommended/S_WUFeatured/W95EuroPatch/Default.asp

So, I suspect that you could just go there directly.

As with just about any operating system patch, you'll have to run the EXE file, and then re-start your computer.

and then voila, you'll be able to see the euro symbol correctly on those websites where THEY have it enabled.

but not here.

Let's make that the next crusade.
Hi

I fly with ryanair regularly.

My luggage is regularly slightly overweight .............. I carry files etc.

My briefcase also is overweight (4 bottles of wine + files).

I have never paid excess charges, although I have seen others have to pay.

It is very rare that hand luggage is weighed.

Peter
http://tlp.netfirms.com
