Thanks for the explanation of why computer glitches are sometimes so hard to pin donw ... FYI I get the runtime error on IE 5 but not Netscape 4.76
This particular runtime error has nothing to do with the OS; rather, it's boils down to differences in how IE and Netscape intepret Javascript code. Apparently Netscape has no problem interpreting the javascript contained on this particular page, while IE is jumping up and saying "hey, this is no good, a semicolon is missing." By disabling script debugging you're telling IE to give it a rest already.

thanks, worked for me too.

OK, Fodor's, here's the error:<BR><BR>See Line 48 of PgTopFrame.jsp (the page which displays the top menu bar) renders the Talk menu selection. Both the mouseover and mouseout events specify a string constant "/images/hnav/talk_select.gif", whereas the other menu selections correctly specify the highlight/unhighlight methods for the same events. <BR><BR>Apparently Netscape permits you to commit such errors, but my baby (version 5.5 anyway) doesn't.
But Bill, I'm using Netscape, not IE, and I get the exact same error message.
anyone else have problems yesterday?I could not access any of the talk forums although I could access the rest of the site!
Same here--could get to main Fodor's but not talk. It reverted to a Random House page or nothing
My run time error is the same as PBProvence's except I get 2, one on top of the other. Forgot to see if they are the same.
We've been having similar problems, but with both IE6 and NS4.7. Instead of just a run time error, IE6 either just stops short of the full list of resposes or gives a blank page especially on threads with several responses. NS has been giving a network error and tells us to reload page? <BR><BR>This has been happening for about two months and emails to the editors have just been the standard requests for versions and circumstances. Had to borrow my husbands laptop from work to reply to this thread, but it won't access all of the threads either.

THANK GOD FOR BILL GATES AND HIS WONDERFUL ERROR FREE SOFTWARE. OH YES BILL PRODUCES THE MOST WONDERFUL PRODUCTS THAT WILL NEVER EVER CAUSE YOU ANY TROUBLE. THE ONLY THING BETTER THAN BILL'S SOFTWARE IS INTEL HARDWARE.
Another kudo for bgates and disabling the debugging window. I have been having this forever on various web pages. Thanks!!
Puker, I never claimed any of my software was error free. We'd love to make error free software, but we also love getting new products out the door and market share so we can't keep testing these things forever.
