We ended up in Munich unexpectedly during Oktoberfest 3 years ago and stayed at the Grand Kempinski at the airport. While digging around on their website I found a rate of about $100 per night for a great hotel. It doesn't have any german charm, but it wasn't too inconvenient.

Good luck,
Marla

We stayed at the Hotel Frey in Ismaning. It's close to the train station and only 15 to 20 minutes into Munich. Warning - there is nothing in Ismaning but the train! There is a beautiful beirgarten behind the hotel though.

Very appropriate warning! :-) Lots of Microsofties there that you'll meet at that beergarden. Other than that it's a desert.

I put that disclaimer in just for you! You helped me out last year when planning our trip. I come back to this board now and again to relive the memories.

Thanks :-) It's such a nightmarish place. People should be warned to stay away from zombietown :-). Hope you liked Munich.
