Rome Hotel decision

So sorry for another hotel question. Needle in a haystack. I am booked at two Rome hotels and I'm so confused. Hotel Regno is an awesome location and we got a room with a terrace. The Napolean Hotel is more highly rated but also more out of the way and no terrace. Any help anybody??? thanks!!

annhig Nov 26th, 2012 07:05 AM

can you post links?

thank!

nytraveler Nov 26th, 2012 08:53 AM

Never heard of either - agree you need to provide links.

bardo1 Nov 26th, 2012 09:18 AM

When is your trip? Are you committed to or locked in to one of these two?

I don't think either location is ideal, though the Regno is the preferable of the two you've listed.

Any chance you can consider something near the Pantheon or the area just to the south or west of it (without crossing the river)??? You'll be much happier if you do.

Alexandria:
I feel like a paid "hack" sometimes, but I frequently recommend the <b>Hotel Modigliani</b>. After staying there very comfortably two times, I have since reco'ed it to family and friends and Fodorites. Location is excellent. Very quiet street (Purificacion)just south of Spanish Steps, easy walk to a parallel Via Veneto, and you can comfortably hoof it to Trevi, Pantheon and vicinity. One stop to Coliseo, also. Vatican is a 10-minute "put-put" boat ride for one euro.

I LOVE the Hotel Modigliani!

StC...seems like we've agreed on Modigliani before..also Domaine de la Rhue near Rocamadour. Be well and happy! (**Syd was in charge of making the turkey..but is not giving up his "night job"...will send spring tour schedule when it's finalized.)

Stu, I think I told you about the Domaine de la Rhue and you told me about the Modigliani - good exchange!

DO send spring tour info - if my ankle's working and he's nearby, we'll be there!

you are right!

Leely2 Nov 26th, 2012 07:06 PM

I don't know either of your hotels, but the Regno is in a better location for first-time visitors, in my opinion.

davispeets Nov 26th, 2012 07:28 PM

I agree with leely.

While I assume you are referring to Tripadvisor ratings, you might also want to read booking.com reviews for both hotels. I read some for both hotels of your choices. I focus on the "cons" first to see if there is a general theme amoung reviewers.

Wow, thanks so much guys. It's interesting to say that near the Pantheon is nice because that is my wish but things there seem to be in the 300.00 range (US) and that's a bit over my budget. Might have to rethink it. For goodness sake it will probably be my only time in Rome. I will check the other recommendation, Hotel Modigliani and Best Roma. Don't know how to put the link for my choices here. I tried it and it didn't seem to work. Homework continues. I'll check back. Thank you!

Alexandria - look at the two links below for budget hotels in the Pantheon area. All of them are well inside the historic center.

http://www.eurocheapo.com/rome/hoods/piazza-navona.html

http://www.eurocheapo.com/rome/hoods...-de-fiori.html

For each one - click on the hotel name, then on "more information" under the "Contact" area.

I always use booking.com when I travel to different cities. Is a very reliable company.

tarquin Nov 27th, 2012 09:01 AM

Or Venere.com.

alexandria54 Nov 28th, 2012 08:16 AM

Thank you once more. I have inquired with the Hotel Modigliani and am waiting to hear back. I found them on booking.com at a great price but I want to be in touch with the hotel to inquire about the superior double room and not just the double. I am also going to look around the Pantheon at the recommended links above.

annhig Nov 28th, 2012 12:33 PM

alexandria, you have obviously discovered something that has happened to me - either the consolidator's website says that there are no vacancies when the hotel's says that there are, or the hotel has more types of room available.

definitely a good idea to contact the hotel if you have a specific sort of room that you want.

good luck!

alexandria54 Nov 29th, 2012 05:22 PM

I have sent two queries via the Hotel Modagliani website regarding the superior double room and I even sent them an email direct and have not gotten any response. Does anyone have a suggestion? Really would like to deal with the hotel and get the room I want and not the randomness of booking.com for example. Thanks yet again!

Surfergirl Nov 29th, 2012 05:29 PM

Hmmm, that's odd, did you spell the name right? I too feel like a "hack" on the Modigliani -- loved our room at the top!

raincitygirl Nov 29th, 2012 05:48 PM

when did you send your enquiries alexandria54? Sometimes it takes Italian hotels a few days to get back to you.
