Rhine River Trip
 

We are taking a river trip and ae concerned with the dress code in the countries we will have a shore visit such as Germany, Austria. Are shorts for men and women acceptable in the cities?

Depends on how good their legs look.<BR>

Hi Terri:<BR><BR>Depends:<BR>1. What time of the year? Winter is cold.<BR>2. Are you young and athletic looking? If so, shorts are OK in most places in warm weather. Remember, you will be visiting a lot of churches.<BR>3. If you are "mature" and out of shape, go with casual clothes (Docker's, slacks, skirts, etc.)<BR>4. We have taken several river cruises and found people tend to dress a little for dinner (no ties except for Capt's dinner).<BR><BR>Have a good trip, Chet<BR><BR>

In Germany the dress code seems to be casually scruffy, in Austria casually smart. Does this make sense?
