"..Not too far from la Place de la Nation is a lovely little restaurant that offers delicious food for great prices. We enjoyed a variety of starters, main courses and desserts in our party of five last week for 19 euros each, with wine at 18 euros.
I started with moules (clams) in a tasty sauce, followed by gambas (shrimp) and finished with crème brulée. Yummy. The was a nice selection of fish, meat and poultry dishes, all beautifully presented.

Provençal table clothes with matching salt and pepper shakers in a cheery setting made for a delightful dinner.
The service was especially friendly, well-timed and professional..."

There are a couple of hundred restaurants on the rue de la Huchette? I had no idea....

As I said before -- within that several block area -- yes, at least two hundred.
We've started to count them several times and always get distracted or lost somewhere over a hundred and before we've covered all the streets of that area. That includes all the fondue places, the pizza places, the several dozen tiny gyros places, the Greek restaurants, the traditional French ones, the tea shops, the Chinese or Thai places, the rotisseries, the pastry shops, the brasseries, the ice cream places, and even the Turkish place with the Hookahs.

Incidentally, while that area is often referred to as very touristy (of course it is), it is also jammed with students from the Sorbonne, and many international tourists as well as lots and lots of local French people. Not all French look for expensive places to eat in Paris. I love people watching from my first floor (US second) apartment on Rue St. Severin. It's a real international parade of people seeking inexpensive food.

For good, but inexpensive, dining in Paris, the Insider Paris Guide Good Value Restaurants is well worth the price of the download. Even so, it's for a low budget of €20-30 per person.
