This is in response to lizzyinflorence.
After reading you post yesterday, I must say that I think that on point #3,regarding italian women, and point #4, about "american students using Italy as a playground" are extremely stereotypical.
I think this is a very individual thing. For example, a few years ago I had a series of Italian roommates, and can say from first hand experience that several of the young female Italian students that stayed in my apartment during their vacations in NYC were very much the same as young americans vacationing in italy, if not even MORE so. They were "out" every night with different guys they met here!!
So I think it is the result of being young and on vacation. I'm sure these same girls probably would be more careful when at home!!!!

You're only young once!!!

signotrice, you are so right. Another point I want to make. Some woman might go to greece and have an affair with a local fisherman thinking it a romantic thing but back in the states, she wouldn't give the local fisherman a first glance.

to Cigalechanta- I (blushingly) agree!

And for those who missed these 2 wonderful films the first time around, try to see both!

"Shirley Valentine" A British housewife rediscovers herself in the Greek Islands)

"Swept Away" -NOT the Madonna version, but the FIRST one (1974) directed by Lina Wertmuller (these things can also happen between Italians!)

I once accepted an invitation for drinks by a Spaniard while spending a semester abroad.
I was aghast to find out that women in Spain were expected to pay their own way.

"Apparently I need to move to L A. I make a really great tour guide!"

Jack, if you do that, may I live vicariously through you? Actually, with a lot of the women in this town, being a great tour guide isn't really the most important aspect of the job. Or at least, that's how I remember it. As my wife tries to remind me, "the grass is always greener..."
