the system itself perhaps is what is deplorable as it is the legal way you are told you can appeal.(i didnīt invent it, nor have i used it as i have never been ticketed for speeding, etc., nor felt a parking ticket i got once was unmerited).
so, perhaps the administration here should get more staff so they can process appeals better. however, all appeals are not lost in the piles.. many are not rewarded, and i agree, that if you KNOW you are at fault, and/or agree with the ticket.. pay it and as said.. "get on with more important things.", but it is good to know that if you donīt agree with it.. you do have recourse. |
lincasanova, you make some good points, but there is one thing I take issue with:
"But wouldnīt it be nice to know you had done it at the time, (assuming you are a normal person)?" Let's be honest here. Most people know when they speed and they know when they go through a red light or whatever. What you're really saying is wouldn't it be nice to know YOU GOT CAUGHT at the time rather than later?" Most people really don't speed because they don't know it. They speed because they think they can get away with it. The same with running a light that they could have stopped for. They do it because they think they won't get caught. Once there are cameras, they've been caught a time or two, THEN they are much less likely to think they can get away with it. |
I suggested that lyceemoliere get a copy of the photo as much for the souvenir value as for proving that she is the criminal. I have such a souvenir from Germany. German cops set up mobile photo stations behind garbage cans and such. I was photographed with the aid of a strobe light another time but never got the notice. I thought for sure I was going to get it, and I was looking forward to it, but I guess the rain obliterated the image and they couldn't identify the car. |
please.. i am not talking about people running red lights.. and i DO AGREE that is probably one of the BEST places for cameras.good point.
i donīt want to run this into the ground. i am probably stuck on some points that in the long run are not as valid as i thought they were. i have lived in spain for 37 years and am fed up with crazy drivers. i guess what i really want is MORE police control.. to get these guys off the road..and think that getting stopped helps alter the way one drives, and society gains two months (or however long it takes the ticket to get to you) of PERHAPS a more conscientious driver. and i would prefer a radar and POLICEMAN in our town occasionally on surprise to grab the big culprits instead of the lazy 14 speed bumps i have to get to my house in a 350 METER stretch of residential road. the speeders now go behind my house area where there are no speed bumps, no poice and no radar and raise hell. anyway.. hereīs hoping we all watch our step. could save lives, which in the END is the most important thing. plus.. i would like the proof, myself, unless i were really sure i did something. my husband was sent a notification ( no photo yet)once for a speeding ticket in a town 300 kms away from our home on a day he was with his mother 600 kms away taking her to some drs. appointments. p.s. the autombile club in spain also appeals tickets. |
