Rental car insurance?
We're going to rent a car for about 2 days in Spain. What type of insurance do you recommend? I always decline it in the states, but thought we might want something in Spain.

Check with your auto insurance company first and see if your policy covers you while traveling internationally.
|
If you decline the CDW the car rental will offer then your credit card may be used to guarantee the worth of the car and render your credit card useless as it's over the limit. I'd just get the CDW option from the car rental. Remember in Spain if you need glasses to drive the law requires that you have an extra pair of spectacles in the car with you at all times. Roadside checks can check for this - tourists may slide but locals say this is enforced.

Hi cd,
It is highly unlikely that your auto insurance will cover you outside North America. Your best insurance is through your credit card. Ask them if they cover Spain, and ask for a copy of the policy. Next is the Super CDW through the rental agency. There will be a small deductible. The CDW will have a large deductible. ((I)) |
What about liability insurance? I think CDW only covers property damage, right? Do I need to worry about liability?
|
Hi cd,
3rd person liability is provided by the rental agency. Required by law in all countries. ((I)) |
